Wet....wet and wet! That's the only way I can start when talking about V2001 at Chelmsford! After the dreadfull day for weather the previous day.......I am sure many thought about not bothering to even go the next day!! The place turned into a bit of a swamp in places although that matting the called 'carpet' that lead from stage to stage did cope pretty well I have to say! So anyway....there was me....making sure I got to the big blue tent to see Nerina who was actually the first on....my feet slipping all over the place and I was just waiting for that moment when I fell flat on my face into the mud but thankfully it didn't arrive!! So I made my way to the tent and took up my place at the front barrier with only very few people in the tent...15mins before Nerina's due on. Then the rain starts AGAIN!! and so everyone begins flooding into the tent for shelter.......fantastic!!!!! more audience for Nerina.....more fans in the making!
While I was waiting there was the familiar...."who's Nerina Pallot?" from a lot of people around me....awwww....they'd soon find out!
Nerina took to the stage in a pair of wellies! Very rock star! haha. Very sensible me thinks! The stage was very dark and so....like only Nerina could.....she shouts "why am I in darkness? Can I have some lights? Oi you f*cker....put the f*cking lights on!" or words to that effect ;o) and so....to a festival audience....her first impression couldn't have been better! haha.
Now I don't remember the set list for this gig but her performance was great! really great! She was on top form and by the end of it....the people around me were going...."she was cool" and i'm sure Nerina made a fair few fans that day! There were even a few people who knew 'Patience' which was great! I think Nerina enjoyed it and I know I did! I watched Neil Finn that day too who of course Nerina has supported and is a great fan of...he was fab and David Gray was awesome!!
All in all a fantastic day.....despite the weather trying to spoil it! |
