King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow 10/10/01 -by William Wilson.
King Tut's 10 October

4 months ago - front row, Semisonic, Glasgow Clyde Auditorium - "that girl's really good - what did she say her name was?" (Surfed later, found out).

Last night - King Tut's, Glasgow 7.30 - when we go in, there's 4 people in the bar, one of whom is Nerina. 2 minutes later I've said Hi, & we're discussing her next single, Neil Finn, Cardiff Radio 2 show etc, & she's signed my cd booklet & show ticket. Nerina's so friendly, so talkative, so up.

10.50 p.m., & onstage - a little nervous at the off (as Edinburgh in August), first number is 'Very Good Sir'. King Tut's isn't full, all the easier to get right to the front. The band (Mark, Jeremy, Tim) are getting louder & tighter the more they play. Can't remember the complete set list or running order, but included were Patience, Jump, Blood Is Blood, Alien (worth the admission price alone - so different live), Daphne & Apollo, Rainbow, If I Know You, encore is Photograph. The 50 minutes just flew by, it's so obvious how much Nerina enjoys playing live, & how she grooves on people enjoying her music. Up here, if an audience don't think you're good they'll soon say so - there wasn't a dissenting voice in the house.

That's 3 Nerina shows for me - I've paid 30+ for shows by others in the past, & not enjoyed them as much as this (5 + booking fee - a snip!).  And the sooner the 4th comes round the better - the port & brandy is on the bar, just waiting!
