Font family: Oz, Font name: Oceania, Original size: 72 mm
Release Date: Mon Dec 28 1998 13:56:20

Thanx for downloading this font. Have a lot of fun and please do not
modify it!
When I decided to open an OCEAN GIRL (an australian TV series) web
page, I looked on several fan sites for the original font used
in the intro. But I didn't find anything usable and so I began to
create my own version of it. To gain success, I digitalized the
intro screen and used this picture as a template for the font. I
had to create several new characters which didn't appear (like all
special characters).

INSTALLATION (WINDOWS 95)

That's quite easy. Open C:\WINDOWS\FONTS and drag the extracted
file 'OCEANIA.TTF' into this folder. It will be installed
automatically and should be available immediately.
If you have an old version of this font and have been using it during
your current session, then you are recommended to reboot the system
to avoid conflicts between the current version and the font cache.

INSTALLATION (X11)

1. Copy the extracted font into your X11 Type 1 font directory
   (usually /usr/X11/lib/X11/fonts/Type1 or
   /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1):
   cp oceanica.iso8859-1.pfa /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1
2. Go to the Type 1 font directory:
   cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1
3. Use your favorite text editor (I personally prefer vi)
   and edit both fonts.dir and fonts.scale:
   a) Replace the first line by the value of its old content
      increased by one.
   b) add the following after the last line:
      oceania.iso8859-1.pfa -ttf-oz-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-iso8859-1
4. Save both files and restart open X11 sessions
5. You should now be able to use the font.

If you want to print postscript files that use this font, you have to do
some additional installation:

1. Symlink the font file to your ghostscript font directory
   (this is supposed to be entered in one line, use the appropriate paths):
   ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1/oceanica.iso8859-1.pfa
   /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts/Oz.pfa
2. Add the following five lines to your ghostscript Fontmap file
   (usually /usr/share/ghostscript/4.03/Fontmap):
   /Oz (Oz.pfa)    ;
   /Oz-Roman       /Oz     ;
   /Oz-Italic      /Oz     ;
   /Oz-Bold        /Oz     ;
   /Oz-BoldItalic  /Oz     ;
   (Do not add the three leading spaces).
   That's it. This works at least with KWord, as soon as it has been tested
   with other word processors, you will be informed if this installation
   procedure has to be changed.

HISTORY

What's changed since Version 1.03?
* 'Q' bad spline tangents corrected
* 'R' problematic point/line overlap removed
* split up 'K' into two splines
=> 3DSMAX now can extrude all of the TTF-font's characters
  correctly

  font, for users of X11 (Keywords: UNIX, Linux, KDE)

What's changed since Version 1.02?
* 'A' looks more original now.
* 'P', 'D', 'K', 'B': width adjusted

What's changed since Version 1.01?
* The template has been converted from point to metric coordinate
  system which is much more exact.
* Many, many bugs fixed: bad or superflous points corrected/removed,
  snapped to grid unligned ones.
* Characters 'I', 'N', etc. now have a smooth edge like the original
* The edge curves have been adjusted.
* All characters have no leading space anymore. Make use of the
  'char spacing' feature your layout program should offer.
* Changed template size from 720 points to 72 mm (~204 points).
* Improved some chars like '<' and '>'

FAQ

?: Is there any difference between this font and the font used
   officially?
!: The number of differences decreases with increasing version
   numbers.

?: What the heck is X11?
!: That's an GUI for LINUX comparable to Windows being a GUI for
   DOS.

?: For some reason I cannot install the X11 font.
!: You must have supervisor privilegies (be logged in as 'root').

?: Can I use this font on a Mac?
!: Try the Type-1 version. It *may* work, but it has not been tested.
   If you can confirm that it works (or that it does not), send a short
   e-mail.

THANX
Special thanks to David Banz for converting this font into a
format readable by X11.
