Adam: Green Lantern of Sector 1055

Attributes

Age
Adam is, depending on how you measure it, ancient or extremely young. By some measures he is an adult (most of the time) and by others he is always a child. Adam, as a spiritual being (i.e. by measuring the age of the soul), is an eons old entity who is continually reborn following a repetitive cycle. However, at the same time he never lives for much more than two and a half years, and roughly three-fifths of that lifetime is spent as a child or an adolescent.

Enigma
Adam, his origins and his lifecycle are surrounded by questions and mysteries. The Guardians of the Universe may have known the answers, but if they did they never told and they are no longer around to question. What are these questions? They are the questions that every race has about themselves but made worse by the lack of a fossil record (there cannot be one due to the Adams method of reproduction) How did the Adams come to be? Why are they a part of this universe, what role are they supposed to fill?

There are no answers, but over the 12,000 years that the Adams have been members of the Green Lantern Corps, various academically focused members of the Corps have proposed about the Adams over the years. The hardest to believe, and most tenuous as it doesnt bother to explain the answers, is that Adam evolved as a natural part of the ecosystem of Adamia; but many feel this cannot be true simply because his asexual lifecycle seems so illogical. Another theory is that some act of magic bound the original Adam to Adamia and started the cyclic lifestyle; this is more favored, because it explains how an obviously biologically male creature could begin an asexual reproductive cycle. Yet another theory is that he was created as a prototype for a kind of renewable warrior, which also explains the biological maleness and the predominant barrenness of Adamia. None of these, or myriad other theories that have existed, have been proven, and there may never be a definitively proven origin of Adam and his people. For now, he is simply an enigma for the curious minded to dwell upon if his story happens to strike their fancy.

Excellent Memory
Although he does not possess an eidetic (or perfect) memory, Adam has a quick mind and a strong memory which allows him to remember much of the stories of his ancestors told to him by his Power Ring himself.

Fast Learner
The race of Adams have always been fast learners, they could get little done in their brief lifetimes if they were not. He can absorb information at an incredible rate when compared to that of most races, about ten times as fast as a human can in specific.

Hardy
Adam is resilient to damage, but even ignoring that because of his intense will to live he is capable of carrying on longer and harder than many others when push comes to shove. Because of the peaceful nature of Sector 1055, this is a trait that any given Adam is not likely to be aware of, but the evidence is there, particularly in the life of Adam 4714 when he endured ongoing, vicious attacks from the Anazrat photons.

Peaceful Sector
Sector 1055 is a relatively peaceful sector even considering the presence of Anzarat with its xenophobic sentient photons living in the region. If it had not been for this trait of the sector, the uncultured Adams might never have been given a ring, because it would have been unconscionable to have given a ring to a race that spends more than half of its lifespan as a child or adolescent. But the Guardians of the Universe knew what they were doing apparently, as there havent been any mishaps yet that an Adam couldnt resolve.

Quirky Hair
From birth to death, Adam has a quirky lock of hair that grows from his hairline to dangle over his forehead. At birth it is his only hair and is the same dark violet shade that the rest of his hair grows in as, but it fades to a shock of white after he has reached adulthood. Some people call it a spit curl, others dont, but what ever this errant lock is, no matter how hard he or anyone else tries to control it, it pops back up to dangle just above his field of vision.

Race of One
Unlike most species, who have other members of their kind to turn to for support, aid and companionship, Adam is the only member of his species alive. This has always been the case, and it always will be the case. When he dies his soul will be reborn in a new body, that of his son, who will be physically identical to him but a blank slate.

Another aspect of this uniqueness is that the Adams are the only creature on their home world to have a resurrection-based life cycle. The other life forms on his home world have life cycles that are similar to those found on other planets. What makes him unique this way is unknown.

Willpower
Willpower is, as much as anything, tied to confidence in ones abilities. Because of this, it improves the more you have undergone trials. Because Adam was raised by the ring of a Green Lantern, as were his forefathers for thousands of generations before him, on the tales of what his ancestors had done, he knows the quality of his kind and thus also what he is capable of doing. Where many people claim to know what they would be able to do in certain situations, Adam has the experience of nearly five thousand men - just like him - to call upon to know how he can perform. This degree of self-confidence is not attainable for a normal sentient. Even for a typical Green Lantern that level of self-assurance is not an easy thing to develop. From this foundation comes a phenomenal willpower that Adam can draw upon.

Will to Live
The most definitive trait of all the Adams is an intensely strong will to live. Sure Adam has a strong will (what Green Lantern doesnt?) but his will to live is undeniable. Case and point is the birth of Adam 4715; the previous Adam had chosen to deliver foodstuffs to the sentient photons at Anazrat and they had effectively killed him, but his will to live and the will of his son to live was so strong that his ring carried him back to Adamia (as this was his last command) and he was able to produce a son anyway who crawled out of the volcano that was his birthing place as healthy and strong as his forefathers before him.
