Nerat Weyr Persona - Treasa

Nerat Weyr operates with permission from Anne McCaffrey.
Last Update: 11th November 2004

Played by Rosalba

Age:
23 (as of Oct. '04)
Rank:
Bluerider
Appearance:
Not a particularly feminine looking girl, Treasa stands 6' tall and has few of the curves that would typically define her body. Her arms and shoulders are particularly well muscled, looking almost disproportionately broad in comparison with her narrow hips. She has pale blond hair cropped close to her head and dark brown eyes. Her complexion is clear and her skin lightly tanned. She has a strong straight nose and narrow mouth that seems set in a perpetual moue.
Personality:
Treasa is stubbornly anti-social rarely speaking to anyone even Kelith. When she does speak, her words are usually acerbic and rude. Most communication is through sharp gestures or wordless sounds.
Background:
Treasa is craftbred, having grown up in a smaller Bakercraft hall located in Keroon. Her parents, Baker Thian (known for his sweetbreads) and his wife Tawea, had 13 children all told. Treasa was somewhere in the middle of the thirteen and received little enough attention from her beleagured mother and almost none at all from her father. The older children were expected to take care of the younger ones, which didn't always work as well as it might have.

The eldest was a girl named Tiana. While quite pretty, she had a nasty disposition and was wont to be rather cruel to her younger siblings. When Tawea wasn't looking, she would balabor them with a wooden spoon (or what ever was handy) for the smallest infraction of her usually arbitrary rules. A particular favorite was a complete ban on talking that would crop up whenever she'd had enough of the others' babbling.

By the time Treasa was 12, Tiana had left to marry a Baker and two of her older siblings were already apprenticed to the craft. Thread was due to begin falling in less than a turn and clutches at the Weyrs were large and frequent. Along with three of her siblings, Treasa was a member of a group of 20 young persons from the hall and hold that were sent to Nerat Weyr. Most of them would become drudges or apprentice to the crafts represented in the Weyr.

The search dragons looked over the group as the entered the Weyr. They indicated which few might have the coveted opportunity to stand to the egg. Only four of her group were chosen and, too young to stand immediately, Treasa was assigned to work in the Weyr kitchens as a drugde for three turns. Other groups of individuals were sent to the Weyr and most of those judged eligible but too young at their arrival became lost in the lower caverns of the Weyr and never made it to the sands.

As Treasa entered her 16th turn, she had reluctantly accepted that she was one of these. She had taken her training in the kitchens well and was no longer considered a drudge. Rather, she was usually assigned to oversee the preparation of dough for pastries, having a knack for knowing exactly when to pull it away from a drudge so that it was still baked up light and flaky.

If not for the fact that a drudge managed to nearly slice his thumb off, this would probably have been her lot for the rest of her life. Fortunatly Gorli, a drudge assigned to carry fresh cut meat to successful candidates at a Hatching, managed to do just that. While the cook fussed over the boy's hand, Treasa found herself with two bowls pails of steaming meat to be hauled up to the sands. She arrived just after the first impressions were made.

As she stood in awe of the spectacle (despite having lived in the Weyr three turns, she'd only seen one other Hatching), a blue dragonet came up to her legs begging for food. She looked around for his partner to hand off the pail of meat. She found three candidates looking at her rather strangely and she suddenly realized that Kelith had chosen her.

She and Kelith have lived at Nerat Weyr for nearly seven turns now. They made it through weyrling training with no major mishaps and only two light scorings while delivering firestone sacks to the fighting wings in Fall. They have suffered similar minor scorings since they have entered the fighting wings as full fledged members of the Weyr, but nothing that has kept them out of the air for more than a sevenday.

Kelith has chased quite a number of greens (he's indiscriminate) and won a few of the flights. Treasa has no particular feeling towards her partners, male or female, and has never had more than a professional relationship with any of them beyond the events of the flight.
Abilities:
Treasa is farsighted and moderately skilled at making a pastry crust. She is tone deaf.
Posessions:
Unspecified.
Miscellaneous:

Blue Kelith

Age:
7 (as of Oct. '04)
Abilities:
A smallish blue, Kelith is a bit more agile than his larger fellow blues. His wings are too large for his overall size, which caused many problems in weyrlinghood.
Personality:
Kelith rarely speaks to anyone, taking his cue from Treasa. However, he's actually quite friendly, if only his rider would lighten up!
