ANTONIO'S STORY
Antonio is the newest addition to my family, and the first "feathered" one. I have never had birds and I would have never thought I could bond that strongly with a bird. I think it was destiny, that I have found Antonio. We were meant to be together! It all started when I decided to go visiting a friend who is a kindergarten teacher, since I wanted to become one, too. That's where I found my SUNSHINE!! He lied in the grass all alone, didn't move nor did ha make a sound. It was very hot that day so we took him inside, he fell asleep in my hands. At first we didn't know what kind of bird he was, but his big feet, his dark beak and the black/white feathers revealed his true identity: he's a MAGPIE!!! We couldn't find his nest nor his Mom, so I tried to put him up on a brench, without success. He always jumped off, back in my lap. I couldn't leave this baby there on his own, so we took him to my friend's home where I stayed overnight. The next day I fed him cat food and he was VERY hungry! I had already started to love him, he looked like a baby when he was sleeping and I just couldn't leave him alone in freedom. So Antonio ended up coming home to Locarno with me. I bought a little carrier where he slept quietly during our 3 hrs. train journey. Once at home he seetled in quickly, in his new cage. The vet said Antonio probably wouldn't survive if I let him free again now, because he is domestic and I am his Mommy. So I will keep him, but give him as much freedom as possible. He always wants to be outside, though, sititing on my shoulder and just being funny! I love my boy VERY much and am so thanful we've found each other. He taught me what a strong bond between human and bird can exist, and how you should be happy with the little things in life.
I hope you enjoy viewing his pics! And how we parted :-(
