[Staff_of_healers] Nerak: wow, lots of staff on tonight! How is everyone? :)

[Staff_of_healers] Nerak: cool! and, even seems that the staff is awake! hehe... :)

[Staff_of_healers] Aerrin feels like we ought to do something. ;)

[Staff_of_healers] Taree grins. Like? :)

[Staff_of_healers] Aerrin has no idea.

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: We could hold an unannounced inspection...? (back tot he matter at hand)

[Staff_of_healers] Nerak: yeah! hehe... stir up all of hte appies! hehe

[Staff_of_healers] Aerrin: go for it

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: Joining us Aer?

[Staff_of_healers] Morallen grins. All 3 of 'em. :) I'll join in, if I can kick this tiredness.

[Staff_of_healers] Nerak: hehe..... where?

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: Well, start at the dorm.

[Staff_of_healers] Aerrin can't, sadly. I promised myself at least 5 pages of historiography tonight

[Staff_of_healers] Nerak: ewww... studying! hehe

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: Come on Rallen, we can do this. Use the RP to combat the exhaustion.

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna awwws to Aer and understands.

[Staff_of_healers] Aerrin: Yeah, it's the week before springbreak. If I'm good, I should be scarce this week. But I'll probably be bad and be around anyway

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: And we love you for that.. Okay, I'm heading to the dorm.

[Staff_of_healers] Taree thinks about coming…

(Sudanna and Nerak walk into the Appy Dorms)

Sudanna says, "Do you see that Journeywoman Nerak?" One small hand directs eyes to 'something' and looks aghast. "Can you believe what we are forced to deal with, here in the apprentice dorms?"

[Healer] Sudanna: Strictly RP, feel free to join in..:>

Nerak nods, "Yes, Senior Journeywoman Sudanna, I do see it. I really don't believe it either..." She shakes her head in scorn. Deep blue eyes sweep th faces of cornered apprentices, some cowering, some looking about in slack-jawed bewilderment, others just blearily coming to wakefulnes.

Sudanna sighs.. "I never thought I would see the day when apprentices would actually allow such a mess to build up in this dormitory."

[Healer] Sudanna: Awww, not one reaction? Okay.. NPCs are welcome then.

Nerak shakes her head... "It was never so messy when I was here... Look, there are even cobwebs in the corners." She wrinkles her nose, "And, look at all the dirt on the floor." She looks at one apprentice who is sitting on the edge of her cot, staring at her feet. "So, do you have anything to say about this, apprentice?"

A timid voice creeps from a small cowering female. Emora is all of 14 turns and just away from her family. "I.. I am .. sorry, Journeywomen.. But we are so busy..." her voice wavers and fails as yet another journeyman enters the dorms.

[Healer Chat] Aerrin: You can always survey the dorms and leave a written notice about everything that's out of place. ;)

[Healer Chat] Nerak: hehe... not a bad idea! hehe, and since we're already on edge due to the supply problem... not out of character! hhe

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: Aww, we can only find NPCs to pick on!

[Staff_of_healers] Aerrin: Still, it's RP!

[Staff_of_healers] Taree notes, she was doing homework too.

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: So, that didn't work, but it /has/ given me an idea.. I'm going to @send to *heal, announcing that Sudanna is on an 'orderly' rampage and spot inspections and impromptu work parties are the order of the day for awhile.

[Staff_of_healers] Nerak: hehe, sounds great! hehe... like cleaning out the storage areas - we 'found' some more gowns, etc in the storage room the other day... so we're sending appies in all of hte store rooms in the hold to find more jars and stuff... that would be good.

[Staff_of_healers] Morallen grins. This should prove some amusing RP. :)

[Staff_of_healers] Nerak: hehe, would have been better if there was anyone unidle in the dorms! hhe

(Sudanna and Nerak have moved to the Healer Lounge where Morallen is)

Nerak walks over to the klah pot and fills a mug then looks to Morallen and Sudanna, "Do either of you want a mug?"

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: well, it's an open-ended post. people can RP that I already got them, and theya re forewarned that I may start at any time..:>

[Staff_of_healers] Taree grins. I like it.

Sudanna sighs and settle sin a nearby chair. "Is there tea? If not, klah is fine.. Oh wait.. we stop serving klah because of the sortage! We have to go to the Mug or dining hall for it now!" Another issue that just sets the healer's teeth on edge. "Shards, when will this mess be straightened out?"

"When whoever's investigating, prob'ly the Harpers," Morallen opines, scrubbing wearing at his eyes from his seat on a couch "Figure out who's doing what and nail 'em... And there's some klah, for ranking types... I had a talk with Tonli."

Nerak walks to the kettle and pours a mugfull of hot water, then throws in a ball of tea leaves. She then takes the two mugs and hands one to Sudanna, and keeps the klah for herself. "Well, since this kettle is made, I'll drink some, though I heard they wont' be making another. I don't want it to go bad, afterall... Oh, they're saving it for the rankers? How sweet of them!"

She smiles, knowing that this kettle will only be good for a day... She looks around this room as well. "I think we need to get hte appies busy cleaning again. It looks like theyve gone slack. This place was so sparkling clean before Ageron came..." She trails off this conversation…

Message 20 of 21 on *Healers (#1178): Date: Sun Mar 2 21:17:47 2003 CST From: Sudanna (#17031) To: *Gossip (#627) and *Healers (#1178) Subject: Frustration Venting at Healer Hall

As Ista Hold's assigned Healer as well as a teacher at Healer Hall, Sr. Journeywoman Sudanna is becoming increasingly frustrated at the lack of supplies in the Hall and Infirmary. To appease her tensions, she has taken to surprising the apprentices at odd hours for 'pop inspections' and creating impromptu work parties. Sending the aforementioned apprentices to scatter every which way to scrounge for over-looked supplies and assigning shifts of scrubbing and neatening. Anything to make things look as if is it's business as usual at the Hall. So, watch out all you healer apprentices, who knows when she may strike next!

Sudanna rolls her eyes at the mention of Ageron. "Don't get me started on that one..." But a sweet smile accompanies the acceptance of the proffered mug. "How did we let that one get by I'll never know." A sip, a sigh of relaxation and the midwife shifts herself toward Morallen, errant mentee turned jman. "Speaking of Tonli, what news from that direction, anyway?" Her grin widens and sapphire eyes twinkle with mirth as she pauses, waiting for his answer to that one.

Nerak shakes her head, "Sorry, didn't mean to bring that subject up again..." She smacks herself... she has a habit of bringing up topics best left alone... She turns to look at Morallen, also wondering how things are going with his wife.

"Huh? Tonli? News?" Yes, Morallen is tired. You'd be too, if you'd spent the day trying to learn how to weave baskets, and teach apprentices to do likewise. Consequently, we can't blame him for taking a few moments to realize that the conversation has veered into potentially hazardous waters. "Oh, we're good. She's good... Everything's good. She's a little stressed because of all these recent events, of course."

Sudanna says, "I can just imagine!" Another, smaller sigh. "Has anyone heard anything about possible bandages? I must say this puts those braces I was developing back by about 5 turns from what I can see. And all because of some anonymous idiots who feel we don't need the very items we depend on for day-to-day survival here." But, heck she's not bitter.. One hand pushes through tangled mass of curls. "What a day. At least the babies are still being born healthy. So far, anyway."

Nerak nods, "Yeah, everyone seems tense about this. I really wonder what is going on? It seems that we are getting more and more patients in the infirmary that were guarding traders... I think that is just awful!" She takes a sip of her klah and shakes her head. "I wonder when it will end, and life will get back to normal." Big sigh. "As far as the bandages, we have some, but not nearly enough if we keep getting in patients at the rate we are now... we're very low. I keep thinking it might be better if we just go and get them from the Weavers, but then look at the infirmaries, and realize that guarding the wagons is dangerous..." Bigger sigh. "Theorn and I were talking to Aerrin about seeing if Crafts can't all ship their stuff together in big convoys."

Morallen suggests. "Larger size, more people... less of a target." the lanky man opines, leaning back and closing his eyes tiredly. "What about asking the weavers for remnant cloth?"

Sudanna says, "The weavers are doing the best they can, but apparently, they are missing quite a bit as well. You can't mean to tell me you have missed the purple and green bandages the kidlets ahve been sporting lately, Rallen?" She chuckles, the kids in question actually thought the colors were great fun, and did allow the Hall to save the 'serious' bandages for the adults with less of a sense of humour. "But I guess it's about time to lead some apprentices on another begging raid to the Weaver CraftHall."

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: ohh, there's a post to make.. colored bandages on the kidlets!

Nerak shakes her head. "From what I heard, many of us have already ripped up our sheets into bandages... a remnant cloth might work, but I heard that they dont' have much to spare themselves... Their supplies are short too." She looks over at Sudanna and laughs, "Colored bandages? I guess I never noticed that. I've been traveling around so much trying to keep up with the supply shortage, that I didn't notice that!" She chuckles, then sets her mug down and rubs her temples, to try to stop the headache that is coming on... "I've been talking to the weavers and the herders. The herders happened to have a spool of feline gut that was uncut, and I was able to put in in my bag and bring it back, but they also have shortages. Everyone is hurting from these awful raiders."

[Staff_of_healers] Morallen grins.

[Staff_of_healers] Nerak: yeah! that would be cute! hehe…

"S'gotta be more'n just simple raiders." Morallen opines, drifting off but still trying to contribute to the conversation. "S'too organized, too widesprea'..." A yawn is muffled behind one hand. "S'not just Ista, either."

Sudanna shakes her head at the sleepy journeyman. "I know, I was talking to Natch when she last visited and I heard Gar was having problems as well. Luckily, they are pretty self-sufficient. But they are short of fabrics and other imported goods. I guess the Garish are not above complaining about all the fruit they are forced to eat. Poor Natch." Oh yea, she looks as if she feels for the woman, doesn't she?

Nerak yawns in response to Morallen, "Stop that... you know yawns are contageous!" She chuckles. "Yes, I had heard it was more widespread. I know that we are supposed to supply the infirmaries in the crafts around here, and they are complaining that they are low on supplies as well. It's too bad that the firelizards can't carry much - they could wink things :between: and bring us our supplies without getting them attacked!" She looks at the various firelizards in and around the room and looks at the other two healers, "It would be nice if we /could/ do that... I know dragons would be the best way, but they can't carry a wagonload on their backs either..."

"Mimblewimble. Fuzzlgrmmp." is Morallen's reply to that. Shh... there's a sleeping journeyman on the couch now, as his player's brain switches off for hte night.

Sudanna says, "And it's not as if the riders don't have enough to do, with Threadfall and other things. But yea, maybe even if one or two of the retired riders, or even some weyrlings, could escort the wagons." Ohhh, there is a kernal of an idea.. "But I supposed that has been thought of, huh?"

Nerak shakes her head, and nods towards Morallen, "It's nice to see he can fall asleep so easily! I haven't been able to sleep well in ages." She starts to absently play with her braid, twirling it around in her fingers. "I guess that would have been thought of... yeah. I mean, if we have thought of it.. wouldn't others? It just makes sense!" She stands up and paces now in front of the chairs. "I mean, if they could even just /be/ there, above the wagons - whether they be retired or weyrlings - I'd think that would make /any/ robbers think twice... wouldn't you?" She accents her thoughts by waving around her hand - complete with klah mug. When she notices her klah is spilling out a bit, she stops to finish off the klah in the mug. She chuckles, "Of course, it could be all this klah I've been drinking lately... I've been so nervous that I've been drinking so much klah. That could be why I haven't been sleeping." She sits down with the mug and stares at it.

Sudanna sits up sharp and watches the nervous, pacing healer before her. "Nerak, are you alright? I mean.. /really/ alright? Just how long have you been like this?" Her face and voice are full of concern, the sleeping Morallen ingnored in her worry for the woman before her. "Is there something more going on in your life you need to spill?" Marriage to a mindhealer has given her an edge in that direction, but still, maybe she should call Jathen in.

Nerak shakes her head, "No, Sudanna. I guess I'm just too caught up in all of this... I have been keeping an eye on the supply books since this all happened. It really is taking up a lot of time... I've been traveling to the different infirmaries trying to get a good account of what everyone is low on, and it all seems to be the same. Everyone is in need of bandages. They also need herbs, which we have, but can't get to them due to our lack of containers. Also, our hesitancy to send it for fear of being stolen." She looks up and smiles at Sudanna. "I guess I've just been too wrapped up in this." She yawns, noticing that Morallen is snoring now. Ok, she's lonely, but not going to admit to that. All her classmates that are now Jmen are seeing someone, and she's just... well... not.

Sudanna says, "I tell you what.. I have some clothes the children have outgrown.. " And now her mind is flying.. "If we set the apprentices to carefully taking them apart, we can re-use the fabric and thread to stitch bags for the herbs, at least." Now she is wound-up in this idea. "And I bet I can scramble about and bring up a few old wineskins of Jath's. Those could carry some of the ointments and salves. We /can/ get the medicines where they need to be. The 'lizards cancarry light bags of herbs, after all." Something niggles at her brain. "Nerak, why is it you haven't been harrased when you travel about? what or whom do you bring with you?"

[Staff_of_healers] Sudanna: ohh, this is prompting all sorts of ideas…

Nerak closes her eyes and thinks, of course, flirting with Apprentice Alain in front of Aerrin and almost getting her head bit off was not a way to help her problem... She as well as anyone knows that apprentices can't have a relationship... oh well. She is just too busy for it anyways. She gives Danna a grin, "I'm not working as hard as Trau, you remember, the apprentice that passed out after working too much. I'm not at that point." Yet... she adds mentally. She listens to Sudanna's thoughts and begins to get excited again, "Yes, that could work... No, I haven't been harassed. I've been alone person, with only my dog as company. I honestly dont carry anything other than my bag." She says as she pats her ever-present bag, then grins. "Of course, this can carry quite a bit! That is how I got the spool of catgut back here from the herder hall." She says this with a grin. "We /could/ have the firelizards carry the herbs to the other infirmaries... Slider and Cyclone sure know how to get to the other infirmaries..."

Sudanna says, "Well, it's not safe or smart to travel alone right now Nerak. Especially any place that takes that long to get to! I expect you will take at least /one/ apprentice with you from now on, understand?" She doesn't often pull even 'slight' rank, but this time she will. "We cannot afford to lose anything from this Hall, most especially a person." A smile softens the harsh words, or so she hopes. "Sorry Nerak, I just hate to see you take any unnecessary risks."

Nerak grins, "I know that... I guess I just wasn't thinking. I was too absorbed in what had to be done rather than whether or not it was safe." She thinks about how dangerous what she has been doing is, and supresses a shudder. "Though I've not seen or heard any problems in my travelings. It almost seems safer to have a small group, without an obvious box of supplies..."

Sudanna nods.. "Good, keep it small if you can. But all the same, make sure at least /one/ other person accompanies you from now on. I do insist on that, Nerak. And if you find a source of materials we can use, we can always lead several small groups to retrieve it. I agree.. " another sip of her now tepid tea.. "Small crowds tend to not attract attention.

Nerak grins and looks at Sudanna, "I promise, I'll bring someone with me on my next trip. Coco is quite menacing looking, and my flits keep popping in and out - I swear they are nervous for me as well, but I get your point. I will take someone with me. I have been thinking... I wonder if there are any supply rooms with a lot of.... oh curtains and such that could be used for bandages... we can wash them well, and at least they could be used? Just a thought..." She is twisting her braid in her fingers again…

Message 33 of 33 on *Mailing list for Healer Staff (#1005): Date: Sun Mar 2 22:40:13 2003 CST From: Sudanna (#17031) To: *Mailing list for Healer Staff (#1005) Subject: Twist to the TP..

Nerak, 'Rallen and I were RPing about the loss of items and I had an idea. What if one of our NPC healers disappeared while doing a circuit of the smaller holds? You know, maybe the hitherto un-named group needs a healer at this point, so they just take one? I'm taking it here first, but I will offer it to the *Leaders, if you guys like it. Danna

Sudanna says, "What a great idea. And I suggest we start with apprentice dorms. They certainly don't seem to need them." She is still a bit miffed about the mess she spied in there earlier. "And actually, there may be some older curtains in the infirmary that we removed and replaced in the past turn or two..." A lower lip is sucked in as thoughts race. "I'm sure there are other places as well."

Nerak nods, "Yes, I agree. I think the biggest problem at all of the infirmaries is the lack of bandages. I think just about any cloth would do at this point... I've given up my sheets, and I guess I can give up my curtains as well..." She frowns a bit at this, as these curtains were her mothers, and she has only a few momentos of her... and fewer memories…

Sudanna says, "No need to do that Nerak. we need our sleep and those draperies do much to hide the sun. We can find other, better sources, I'm sure." Not sure about the reasons, Nerak's reluctence to offer up the curtains is obvious. "My children don't understand why I wash thier sheets and re-sue them every other day, rather then just use another set. Jadena did ask about why I was boiling the sets one day and I explained they were going to become bandages. Jaye just wanted to know if that meant he wouldn't have to go to bed anymore. Leave it to a 3 turn old to think of that."

Nerak chuckles at the thought of Jay not going to bed anymore. "That is quite cute, Danna. I just can't believe how big your kids are... They are growing so fast." She chuckles, "I've been washing my sheets often too... I'm down to just one set, as most of us are at this point... I even saw someone tearing a blanket into strips the other day, and this wasn't a healer!" She says, with a slight grin. "I think the hold has gotten the message that we need bandages, and I found a basketful of rolled up strips of cloth outside the infirmary door the other day." Leave it to the holders to help out in times of need! "I just wonder if Jaye was hoping you weren't having sheet stew for dinner!" She says, now laughing at the thought. She does not offer a reason for not wanting to give up her curtains. She yawns again. "Well, I think I better head to bed... Morallen's snoring is making me realize how tired I really am..."

As if on cue, all three of the l'enfants terrible' appear, clamboring for Mam time. "Timing is perfect, eh? Seems I am wanted elsewhere as well." A smile is offered the other Helaer. "Not only get some rest, but remember the rest of our discussion as well." A simple, yet direct reminder of the edit to stop traveling alone.

[OOC:] Sudanna says "Thanks for the RP.. More alter.. G'night!"

Nerak smiles at the children, and turns back to Sudanna "Hi kids! You can have your mommy back now... We're done." She grins at Danna, "Yes, you're wanted for more /important/ things than just chatting with me!"

[OOC:] Nerak says "was great!" Nerak yawns and watches Sudanna and the kids leaving the room, then heads back to her room to sleep. *** Disconnected ***
