Neptunian Hockey League

Sister league of the National Hockey League

There are 18 teams in the Neptunian Hockey League, which is based on the National Hockey League.

Hockey has been played for many years in Neptunia, which has become the hockey country.

1313

In 1313 there were only eight teams: Foxboro Flames, Memphis Maurauders, Modesto Maddogs, Coral Canucks, Crystal Crunch, Buena Vista Diamondbacks, Monterray Whalers and Edmonton Oilers.

The divisons in 1313 were as such:

North
Crystal, Foxboro, Memphis, Modesto

South
Buena Vista, Coral, Edmonton, Monterray

1343

For 30 years, the league only had eight teams. With its popularity increasing, the league expanded in 1343 to twelve teams, with the inclusion of the: Hudson Hawks, Cheyenne Sharks, Halifax Bombers and Phoenix Coyotes. The divisions had to be changed, and some teams moved about.

North
Coral, Crystal, Foxboro, Hudson, Memphis, Modesto

South
Buena Vista, Cheyenne, Edmonton, Halifax, Phoenix, Monterray

1345

Only two years later, two more teams, The Matrix Marvel and Neptunia City Senators came on board. Again, the divisions had to be changed:

North West Conference

North
Foxboro, Memphis, Modesto

West
Edmonton, Halifax, Matrix, Neptunia City

South East Conference

East
Coral, Crystal, Hudson

South
Buena Vista, Cheyenne, Monterray, Phoenix

1359

After 14 years of 14 teams, the league again expanded, this time to twenty teams: Avalon Magic, Marshall Kings, Sydney Serpents, Duluth Wild, Kodiak Bruins and Thunder Bay Lighting.

There, of course, had to be new divisons made, and they looked something like this:

North East
Crystal, Foxboro, Memphis, Modesto

South East
Buena Vista, Coral, Hudson, Monterray

Central
Cheyenne, Edmonton, Matrix, Phoenix

South West
Avalon, Marshall, Sydney, Neptunia City

North West
Duluth, Halifax, Kodiak, Thunder Bay

1372

In 1372, the Matrix Marvel folded. Two years earlier they had won the Magnolia Cup, but various off-ice problems led to the team's demise. One of the main catalysts was a strike by most of the front office staff. The prolonged work stoppage led to the team missing it's first pre-season game, and it was decided by the league to fold the team and disperse its players.

The central division that season played with only three teams, not four. No other divisions were affected and no teams were moved around.

That same year, the league took control of the Marshall Kings after the team's owner defaulted on payroll payments. The league operated the team for the rest of the year, and the next season the team was permanently folded.

1374

The 1974 season started with only 18 teams (there have been no more expansions since 1359), and the divisions looked something like this:

North East
Foxboro, Memphis, Modesto

Mid East
Coral, Crystal, Hudson

South East
Buena Vista, Cheyenne, Monterray

North West
Duluth, Kodiak, Thunder Bay

Central
Edmonton, Halifax, Phoenix

South East
Avalon, Neptunia City, Sydney
