How art thou fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How art thou cut down to the ground,
which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart,
I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God:
I will sit also upon the mount of the
congregation in the sides of the north,
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.

Isaiah Chapter 14 Verses 12-14

4:1

The angel giants guided the heathens from the middle of the great sea to Israel and settled along the western coast. To the local Israelites they became known as the Philistines, the people of the sea.

The Philistines established trade with the people of Egypt and Israel. They sold fabrics and dyes, pottery, metal ornaments and jewelry. The local rulers allowed them to remain in their countries for trade purposes. Roads were built, connecting the routes they used to sell the wares.

The Philistines began to take over cities along the Mediterranean coast by force. They took Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ekron, Beth-shan, Tell Fara, Gath and Gezer, among others. Great stone walls were built around the city-states and a Government counsel was appointed. Samyaza and the other angelic giants remained in power over the Philistines, hidden within the walls of the cities.

Once their fortresses were in place and their armies were ready, they declared war on Israel. Gods people were unprepared for such an attack and they fell in great numbers to the warriors from the sea. They continued inland toward Beth-lehem and the Judean Mountains. Israel was forced to endure Philistine rule for many years.

God appointed a king over his people. The new king, Saul, had an army trained to defend them from the Philistines. The battles became increasingly difficult to sustain and many lives were lost. Samyaza and Goliath watched from afar and did not interfere. They were pleased at the war they had begun with Gods faithful. Their original task upon the earth was now complete. They were no longer needed, or so they thought.

The giants yearned to join their brothers on the astral plane. Gods failure was in full fruition and they tired of the mundane realm.

And then Lucifer went to them. God was unaware of his presence, for he was delivering his wrath to the cities of Sodom and Gamora. As mens lust was punished with fire from the sky, Lucifer gave the giants his instructions.

Go to the Philistine named Karradel. His hatred for God is strong. He will provide the human element needed to destroy him. Only one that is part of Gods energy can be victorious over him.

Lucifer went on to explain his plan to the giants. The powerful magic to be used against the worlds creator would be carried out by human hands. A ritual with a joined gathering of seven earthbound souls and an open receiver would provide the energy of God. The scripture of the fallen ones would set the magic in motion. And one more element, the key piece of the puzzle, was something that had been created by God himself in his own rage. The mundane flesh that bound the angels to the earth. The enchanted fluid that pumped through their veins. It was the blood that held the power to cast out the souls of men. It alone contained the strength of the angelic energy that had been passed down to their offspring.

The death of God would begin with the push of the Nephilim.

4:2

Linda and Detective Randal tried to shake off the bitter cold as they entered the police station. He led her to the elevator at the end of the corridor and pushed the up button. The stainless steel immediately slid open and they stepped inside.

He watched her closely as they ascended to the second floor. She calmly stood staring at the glowing numbers above the door. He was just behind her trying to notice anything in her manner that indicated nervousness, agitation, guilt. She remained perfectly at ease and motionless.

The chime sounded, announcing their arrival at the upper floor. The steel opened with a clunk and they stepped out. He walked down three doors and knocked. She followed slowly.

When she entered she saw the two men whispering to each other at a large wooden desk at the far side of the room. She took one step past the threshold and stopped. The older man sitting at the desk raised his voice to speak.

Ms. Holland, please have a seat.

His outstretched hand was motioning to the wooden chair across from him. He closed a large manila folder as she sat down onto the hard oak.

Did Detective Randal give you any details about last nights crime?

No. Not really.

But, he did say that there was a definite resemblance to it and crimes you witnessed in 1971, right?

Something to that effect, yes. He looked into her face, trying to read her emotion. She stared at him blankly.

Do you know of anyone that would wish to continue were Howard Killien left off? Anyone at all?

No. Everyone I knew that had anything to do with it is either dead or in the asylum.

He had no dealings with anyone outside of the cult?

Not that I know of.

Did he ever speak to people on the phone when you were there?

No.

Have friends over?

No.

Talk about any bars he went to or restaurants he liked?

No.

The questions were going absolutely nowhere. It was time to change the subject.

What was the other womans name, the one in the state hospital?

Linda pretended to think hard and look concerned and the same time, Lisasomething.

Yes. Lisa Stockard, thats right. You were the only two survivors.

Thats correct.

I sure commend both of you. Making it through something like that is quite a feat.

Humans are resilient creatures. We do whats necessary to survive, if possible.

You know whats so odd to me Ms. Holland? Its that to this day Lisa still maintains that you werent a victim like the others. She says that you were his accomplice.

He waited for a second to see if any emotional response showed up in her face. There was nothing.

Do you have any idea why she would feel this way?

Linda cleared her throat and looked the detective straight in the eyes, Howard Killien was a very sick man. I dont know why, but he liked me more than the others. I suppose he fancied me to be his girlfriend. The other girls were locked up in the basement. I stayed with him upstairs. Therefore it wouldve been easy to think that I was in on it, but I was not.

You slept with him? Upstairs?

Yes.

Were you tied up or bound in any way?

She looked down at his desk, I believe that youve got the answer to that question sitting there in front of you Detective, in that file.

She was becoming irritated. Even a fool could see where that line of questioning was going. They hadnt brought her in because of her unique insight into the case. They were trying to determine whether or not she was a murderer. They wanted to accuse her.

Its a big file Ms. Holland. I havent had a chance to read all of it.

No, I was not tied up or bound in any way. I did not attempt escape because of fear. If I had tried anything, he would have killed me. Im sure of it.

He decided to change the subject before she became uncooperative. He handed her a line drawing. Do you recognize this picture?

Yes, it represents the fall of the Christian God and the rise of Lucifer and his messiah.

Could you explain the smaller symbols to me?

The two at the top are Lucifer himself and the dark messiah. The two lower ones are the physical body and the soul. The one at the bottom is God.

He looked closely at the inverted star, The body and the soul?

Yes, it is how Killien believed he would gain power. By killing his victims and consuming their spirits.

He believed that he was eating their spirits?

Thats what he thought, yes.

How did he claim he was doing that?

I am sure I dont know. He just said thats what he was doing. He didnt explain it.

The two policemen looked at each other. They both knew that they didnt have any evidence pointing to Ms. Holland. She had admitted nothing. Still, it seemed as though there was much she wasnt saying. Sgt. Lunderman thought that maybe he wasnt asking the right questions but in his logical assessment of the interview he was pretty sure that was not a murderer sitting across from him. She seemed too frail and harmless. He had to ask anyway.

Can you tell us where you were last night, about one A.M.?

The question didnt surprise her in the least, but she was angry at his words just the same. She gave Lunderman an icy glare.

I was in my bed, sleeping.

He smiled, Of course you were. Thank you for your time, Ms. Holland. If we think of anything else, we might need to talk to you again, if thats alright.

She knew that they didnt have anything on her. She hadnt committed any crimes, yet.

Fine. Id like to go home now please.

Detective Randal escorted her out of the office, and back down the hallway. Lunderman dialed a number on his telephone.

Yeah, Frank? Im gonna need surveillance on Linda Holland. I need to know names of every person she comes in contact with.

A pause.

NoNo, I dont think shes our perpetrator. But she might know who isYeah. Thanks.

He hung up.

4:3

The streets were packed with snow and ice. The slick surface made the squad car slide as it turned onto her block. The tires found clear pavement and the vehicle straightened out.

The officer was a bit embarrassed, Looks like its gonna be a rough storm.

That it does.

He pulled over in front of her house.

Do you need help up to the door maam?

No, thank you. I can manage.

Her front steps were extremely slick. She held tight to the handrail on her way up. She saw a light on in the dining room. Someone was inside. Linda looked out at the street. Sallys car was parked a couple of spaces down. She hadnt noticed until now. Sally quickly closed the book when she heard her grandmothers footsteps on the porch. The door creaked open and in went a big gust of wind and snow.

Hi grandma. What are you doing out in this weather?

She smiled in her granddaughters direction, Oh, just trying to catch my death.

Sally helped Linda remove her coat and hung it in the closet.

I came by because there is a man looking for you. He said you sold him a necklace. His name is Jack.

Oh yes, Jack, of course.

He seemed pretty worried. I told him Id have you call.

Sure, Ive got his number on the desk over there. But first Im going to make a hot pot of coffee.

Sally wanted to ask her about the necklace and the book. But she didnt want Linda to know shed been going through her things. It was none of her business anyway, but Sally wanted to read more of the book.

It was the same story that Linda had told Jack, and he had told her. Only it was written in more of a biblical kind of speech, but the same story nonetheless. Sally knew there had to be a lot more to that book than just that one tale. She had gotten through most of the Nephilim story in the first fifteen pages. There were lots more pages she hadnt read yet. She wondered what other bizarre writings could be hiding in there. Maybe she would ask her grandmother about it sometime.

But not now. She wanted to get home before the road conditions got any worse. She made no more attempts to find out where Linda had been that afternoon. She was just glad that she had found her.

So youll remember to call Jack, right?

Yes dear. Ill call him.

Ok. Ill see you later, she said, putting on her coat.

Be careful. The streets are getting slick.

I will.

She pushed her way out into the icy darkness. Her car was completely covered over again in a thick blanket of white. Inside, Linda watched Sally clean off the windows.

Nosey little bitch.

She was sure Sally had been reading the book. In her earlier haste she had forgotten to put the scripture away. She would have to be more careful. But the police coming by was quite unexpected. She didnt think those fools would catch on until it was far beyond too late.

Things needed to happen quickly or they might not happen at all. The police suspected her, Jack knew something was wrong, and now Sally had been reading the forbidden prophecy. It was impossible to know how much shed read.

Linda looked up into the black sky. Little swirling pellets glistened in the porch light.

Hurry my love. The time is short.
