THE HAND OF GOD
A tiny boy was born one day
To woman who was very poor
She had two more children besides the one
But was forbidden to have any more

The Egyptian guards came around
To take all the newborns born this day
She snuck away to save his life
Before the guards could take him away

She set him adrift on the river Nile
And watched the tide carry him far
Prayed to god that he would survive
Under the light of the Northern star

Away he drifted to another place
A palace that belonged to the Pharaoh
They found the baby in the basket
Brought to the king, down paths that were narrow

The queen fell in love with the boy
And took him as her very own
She gave him the name of Moses
Who wouldnt grow up all alone

He had a brother, brave and bold
Ramses was what he was named
They got along great, were best friends
But their division is what was most famed

A long time went by, both of them grew
Into fine young handsome brave men
Ramses was to be the next king
Moses stuck by him through thick and thin

Till one day, a voice from the past
Spoke out with such hope and pain
Telling Moses he was to do something
Something that wasnt very sane

He was told that he did not belong
With the King and his royal world
That he was born of a different Mother
Soon the pharaohs secret had unfurled

At first Moses didnt want to listen
And believe what the slave girl had said
If it wasnt for the Pharaohs kindness
He, himself, would surely be dead

He slowly found out the truth was told
By this girl whom he had never met
He began to cry a river of tears
Next to a statue of Set

He ran away to another place
He needed to be at peace in his mind
He turned out different from what he thought
How could he have been so blind?

A small caravan rescued him
From the death of the desert Sahara
Bathed him, clothed him, fed him food
Taking him to a whole new era

He learned to sheep herd and other stuff
How to be complete with the land
How to see the simple things
Which to others would seem very bland

He did this well and took a wife
Lived his days and nights in peace
Even though he was somewhat complete
There was something else that wouldnt release

One day while herding the sheep some
Something out to him had called
The curiosity within him overtook
And soon he had become enthralled

He followed the voice to a sacred place
In which he had removed his shoes
And in the center, a burning bush
Burned bright with firey hues

He spoke to him very calmly yet
Very stern, it wanted him to carry out
A very special thing he was destined for
But Moses was at first in great doubt

The bush proved it's powers to him
Reached out to touch the bright light
Great things would happen all around
When the time was absolutely right

So Moses decided he had to obey
And do what this bush asked him to
It wouldnt be easy that was for sure
But he had the courage to strain and press through

To free the slaves in your homeland
Is the task that was difficult indeed
To betray your only known family
And set free the people in need

So away he went, back to Egypt land
To do what he was compelled
To free the slaves of Egypt
Against his family he would rebel

Ramses rules the land this time
And wouldnt let the Jews leave
So Moses and Hotep had a battle of power
Moses won the match, his brother was peeved

But alas Ramses was a brute
And decided not to comply with the plan
He sent an order for the slaves to work harder
Most of them fell, tired, in the sand

They blamed Moses for this dirty work
It was his fault they were in this situation
But Moses stood his ground and said
There would soon be a great revelation

God sent the plagues of Egypt
Rained hellfire and broke the city
If only Ramses would set them free
To put them through this, such a pity

He stood his ground more and more
Till down came the hand of god
To smite the firstborn of the Egyptians
All from Moses seemingly plain rod

Ramses finally let the Jews escape
Out of fear of what could come next
So Moses led them to another land
But Ramses was still completely vexed

He sent the guards to destroy them
While on their way out of town
Came to a gigantic body of water
They were trapped, or so they had found

Moses didnt know how to help
There was nothing that he could do
The sky bubbled and toiled about
A giant inferno of a twister blasted through

Then an amazing something happened
Something they would never really believe
The ocean parted... split in half
So they could walk through the red sea

They walked on, for hours it seemed
As God held the Egyptians at bay
They were finally through the oceans depths
As they heard the king Ramses say:
Kill Them all, take no prisoners
Not one mere soul should be excluded
The Egyptian guards followed his lead
This army of Pharaoh was very deluded

The Jews came out on the other side
Onto the firm solid ground
As the last one left the sea
The sides came tumbling down

On top of the Egyptians, washed away
But the Jews were finally safe
Just goes to show miracles can happen
If you only have the faith.
