THE ARROWS OF LOVE |
Clumsy and aloof was he This man, he knew for sure in his mind He was the most awkward anyone could be This did sadden him, quite a bit To ne'er have someone to love So one night he decided to kneel and pray To the wonderful gods above He prayed intently and for a long while Telling of what he wanted then He said, I want all women to love me true To be a love god among mortal men Eros, he hath heard his plea And decided to help him fast He went and swiped some of cupids bows On which a love spell had been cast He pulled back the arrow and aimed And then he suddenly let go He hit the man, in need, dead on It was indeed quite a show The next day he did awake, from his wonderful dreams And had not even a clue Of what had transpired the night before For this day was bright and new He got dressed and ate some food And left for work that day It was a Friday he thought happily As fresh as an afternoon in May But much more would happen to his surprise Unknowing of the events ahead For if he knew what was coming next He would have just stayed in bed As he walked he passed a woman Who was indeed lovely and nice He walked right by her, and as he did She grabbed him and kissed him thrice Excuse me dear lady, what have you done? Which was his very next line She winked at him and made a pass And then said "your place or mine?" He escaped her clutches in the nick of time He ran so fast, away from there In complete panic and hastiness He bumped into another lady fair. She was a bit tamer, or so it seemed Somewhat conservative and shy As she glanced at him, just once, and smiled Then she grabbed him and loosened his tie He tried to escape yet once again And none too easy I should say He wanted to get the heck out of there But she wanted to sit there and "play" He ran into the street, very swiftly indeed And thought "What the hell is going on here?" Yesterday no woman could stand his presence And now they all wanted him near. In the street as he stood there A circlet of women had formed Surrounding him, he wanted to run - but couldnt For hell hath no fury than a woman scorned Tearing at his clothes, shoving him around This was becoming quite a scene He found himself hoping and praying, dear god Please let this all be a dream He found himself praying yet once again To try and undo what he'd done He wanted to be anywhere but here And thought... DAMN, this is no longer fun He awakens in his own bed; it WAS all just a dream Sitting there in complete thrall Thinking, careful what you wish for, coz you might get it So he had learned something after all He went about his work that day And to his very shock and surprise A female coworker had asked him for a date So twas true - his sex appeal DID rise They dated, got married and had two kids And their home was filled with laughter And I guess you know what is coming next... They lived happily ever after BACK TO POEMS |
