FEEDING FRENZY
COWRITTEN BY KATHRINE D'IPPOLITO
Dominating darkness dawns

Resoundingly the beast yawns

Awake for her nocturnal feeding

Gargantuan nails atop her claws

Ostentatious teeth adorning her jaws

Neverending, her heart still beating.

Errupting from the bowels of her cave

Attuned to finding a human slave

Tenderly she bursts into flight

Indecisive she is in her choosing

Nine humans that will soon be losing

Giving up their lives in this fight.

Passionately she persues her prey

Evoking within them feelings of dismay

Obviously her hunger rules

Picking them out one by one

Languidly she has her fun

Entrapping each of her nine fools.

Wrestling each in their turn

Intending to let them think they've won

The inferno shot from her mouth to burn

Heinous heat like the very sun.

Killing her prey to survive

Atrociously she takes their lives

Tormenting her soul with remorse

Sun up and time for her to sleep

Until the night falls dark and deep

Prompting her to search for her next course.

Yesterday has come and left

Uncommonly she feels bereft

Majestically the dragon slep
