Very closely contested singles finals were the main base of this penultimate knockout, to decide the Zone 5 junior singles champion for 2002. With the winning succession of the mourning game under their belts, Dean Morrisey (Gulgong, Central Tablelands) and Matthew Jeans (Glenbrook, Nepean) this semi final fight was one of the toughest games played during the week. With Matt Holding game and leading 23 to 17, Dean looked as if he was beat, but in his 'state' experience and cool collectiveness, Dean ran out trumps, dropping only one more shot to win 25 to 24.
Another big win was in Semi B as the young Bradley Hills (Crookwell, Southern Tablelands) fired over his very experienced, well represented opponent Lee Stinson (Blayney, Western, I shiver when that names mentioned...) his its helped him to victory and the biggest upset of the week. Well Done. In the final, Bradley still shaken from the mourning was just not up to the past winner as his array of shots shone through to the last shot. Well done again Dean. |
