Stego in Kathmandu

Here on the right you can see me very happy in the Darbar square of Kathmandu, in November 94. one of the most impressive squares I've ever seen.

It was my 2nd day in Nepal, a "holly man" (baba) had just put a "tika" (that little red point in my forehead) because it was Diwali, one of the more important hindu festivals.

Kathmandu was alive and crowded as never. Besides Diwali, there was an electoral campaign going on and, that night or the following, newari people, one important etnic group on the Kathmandu valley, would comemorate their new year's eve. Streets were flooded with people in a festival of colours, politic propaganda equally coloured, all mixed with the festive decorations of Diwali. Nearly all the houses had a lot of orange flowers on the walls. One felt life, colour and party everywhere.

A travelogue of this trip will soon appear. Until there, you can take a look at some photos taken at the Annapurnas.
