Lt. Commander Char is Zeon's most famous zion pilot of the entire war, nicknamed the "Red Comet" after his mobile suit's color scheme. In the Battle of Loum at the start of the One Year War, Char destroyed five Federation battleships singlehandedly, spurring speculation that he might be a newtype of the kind predicted by Zeon Deikun. Once he encounters the Gundam he begins a fierce rivalry with Amuro, which escalates after Amuro inadvertently kills Char's newtype protege Lalah Sune.

In addition to his color preference, Char is a man of many eccentricities. He is seldom seen without his face-obscuring helmet, which serves to conceal his secret identity from his fellow Zeon soldiers. He also rarely wears a pilot suit in battle. It's ultimately revealed however that Char is the son of the Zeon Deikun, spirited out of Side 3 ten years ago and brought up to carry out a mission of vengeance against the Zabi family which supposedly assassinated his father. Having infiltrated the Principality of Zeon's military in order to get close to his targets, Char doesn't let such trivial things as his longstanding friendship with Garma Zabi get in the way of his quest, but his growing rivalry with Amuro proves to be a major distraction.

Light Spacesuit 250 Lightly Constructed, These suits are designed to be worn while piloting mobile suits, or on short trips into the vaccum of space. they have a three (3) hour air supply, and are equipped with a manuever pack powerful enough for simple zero-gee manuevers. Space suits have an SP6, based on the weave and structure of the suits design. All space suits are automatically self sealing, and can seal off up to 6H of puncture damage.
Flight Helmet 50 Flight Helmets are made of high impact ballistic plastics which affords the pilot armor protection (SP8). They have adjustable faceplates (full to half face adjustment) with anti-dazzle stepdown lenses, radios, and plug-in's for HUD systems and piloting controls.
Spacesuit Patches 2 Each Patch ca seal up to 4H of damage, each kit comes with 10 patches.
Cutting Torch 15 Smal oxy-acetylene torch which can cut through 1 inch of metal at a rate of 1/m per turn. Gas will last 20 turns. Refill cost 1cr. each.
Binoglasses 30 high tech binoculars with special attachments that allow you to read distances from viewed object. You can view a mansized object clearly at 10 miles, and read print 2500 meters. more expensive versions have filters to allow you to see through smoke or darkness. The most expensive binoglasses have built-in min cameras to photograph images.
