The Principality of Zeon is the creation of the cunning and ambitious Degwin Sodo Zabi.
In August of UC 0069 - a year after the death of the republic's founder - Zum Deikun.
The Deikun's successor, Degwin proclaims Side 3 the Principality of
Zeon and installs himself as sovereign, ruthlessly purging the Deikun loyalists.
Under Degwin Sodo Zabi's leadership, the Principality of Zeon begins preparing itself for a military confrontation with the Federation.
Degwin's children are then appointed as the commanders of the Zeon military, supervising the development and deployment
of advanced new weapons such as mobile suits. In October of UC 0078, the Zeon military is split into two branches, both reporting to General Gihren Zabi.
The Space Attack Force, commanded by Lieutenant General Dozle Zabi, emphasizes traditional manuever warfare tactics in his deployment of mobile forces.
The Mobile Assault Force, led by Major General Kycilia Zabi, specializes in unconventional activities such as intelligence-gathering,
resource mining, and newtype research; its subdivisions include the 7th Division, the 1st Mobile Infantry Division, and the Zeon royal guard.
In February of UC 0079 a third branch, the Earth Attack Force, is created to carry out the upcoming Earth invasion.
Kycilia's 1st Mobile Infantry Division is reorganized into this independent force,
commanded by Colonel Garma Zabi, and its ranks expanded into five Mobile Infantry Divisions trained and equipped for the terrestrial Assult on earth.
By April of UC 0079, the Earth Attack Force has overrun much of Earth's surface.
Its principal strongholds include the captured California Base,
Zeon's main terrestrial production facility; Odessa,
where Colonel M'quve supervises an immense mining operation;
and New York, from where Garma Zabi commands the Earth Attack Force.
In May, the asteroid fortress Solomon is completed;
located near the rubble of Side 1, this base serves as the frontline headquarters of the Space Attack Force.
The Mobile Assault Force is based at the lunar city of Granada, where most of Zeon's space mobile suits are produced.
The asteroid fortress A Baoa Qu, completed in June, completes the Principality of Zeon's last line of defense.
Located near Side 3 behind the "dark side" of the moon, A Baoa Qu not only hosts a couple of Space Attack Force's fleets,
but also houses its own factories for the production of mobile suits.

Mobile Assult Forces Commander - Major General Kacilia Zabi
The eldest daughter of Zion's ruling family.
Kycilia commands the 3rd Independent Assult Taskforce from the flagship Gwaden,
where she conducts all planning and coordination of operations.

33rd Attack Squadron (Light) - Captain Char Aznable
The 33rd Attack squadron is the vanguard of all Intelligence gathering operations
for the 3rd Independent Assult Taskforce. Zeon's famous "Red Comet" is a legendary ace mobile suit pilot,
a natural newtype who by birth posses lightning reflexes, hightend senses,
and exceptional piloting skills, all of which make him a deadly opponent in combat.

301rd Cruiser Squadron (Medium) - Lt. Commander Anavel Gato "The Nightmare of Solomon"
The commander of the Zion's family Elite Palace Guard,
he was hand picked by Kacilia Zabi to be the commander of the 301rd Cruiser Squadron.
He is a ruthless, calculating, soldier with a strong sense of devotion who has sworn aligance to the Zabi family.

Gwazine Class Battleship- The Gwaden
The most powerful of all space warships built during the One Year War, the Zion Gwazine class battleships were more than a match for any Federal Forces warship.
With high-powered main weaponry that outclassed the Federal Forces Magellan class ships and a large integral compliment of mobile suits,
Gwazine class ships were typically reserved as command ships used by high-ranking flag officers. The sheer firepower and defensive abilities
of the Gwazine ensured that they would remain as the most powerful warships in the Earth Sphere for many years. During the One Year War,
the Great Degwin served as the personal flagship of Degwin Sodo Zabi, the head of the Principality.
It was destroyed when his son Gihren fired the Solar Ray at the Federal Forces fleet. Another ship, the Gwaden,
served as the personal ship of Aiguille Delaz during the war and afterwards during Operation Stardust in UC 0083.

Zanzibar Class Mobile Cruiser- The Zanzibar
The Principality of Zeon's closest answer to the Federation's Pegasus class carrier,
the Zeon Zanzibar class mobile cruiser replaced the vulnerable H.L.V. for the purpose of ferrying mobile suits to
Earth and back to space. With a capacity of 12 mobile suits and a battery of bow-mounted mega particle guns,
the Zanzibar was often used as the command ship for smaller fleets when a Gwazine class battleship was either
unavailable or unsuitable. Lacking the Pegasus class' integral Minovsky Craft System,
the Zanzibar could only operate for short periods in Earth's atmosphere, using sustained thrust.
When being launched back into space, the Zanzibar class required a special rocket booster to supply
the necessary thrust to break free of Earth's gravity. Several Zanzibar class vessels carried the bulk
of the remaining Zeon forces at Odessa into space, including a large shipment of resources mined in the mineral-rich region.
Another was used by Ginias Sahalin in Zeon's Southeast Asia base as a power supply for his massive mobile armor Apsalus III.
It was later destroyed while trying to transfer wounded soldiers to space.
The Zanzibar class, like most Zeon warships of the One Year War, lacked launch catapults, instead deploying its complement
of mobile suits through a simple hatch on the ventral hull.
