As a first time Dane owner, I myself had no idea the level of care required by a Great Dane.

They may well look as though they are as tough as Iron, but don't be fooled by
the appearance of these great giants.
The fact is, that they are indeed quite fragile in both body and spirit.

If you are contemplating being owned by one of these wonderful animals, please, please
do your homework. Being knowledgeable about life with a Great Dane is the first most important thing you can do for your new family member.

What Neo Eats

I would like to share some feeding info recommended by my breeder and vet. A Great Dane pup should have 3 meals a day, never one huge meal! If you are feeding dry kibble, the food should be mixed with water. Doing this will keep your puppy from feeling so thirsty after eating and possibly gulping water, which can lead to horrible consequences.

It's also recommended that your puppy be rested and calm 1 hour before eating and at least 1 hour after eating.

Neo eats Eagle Pack brand kibble. The recommended formula for a growing Dane puppy is the Natural Pack. It is 23% Protein and 12% fat. This formula was designed with the Great Dane pup in mind.
He also gets vitamin C, and is up to
1500 mg. daily. He started out with 250 mg. at 7 weeks. We also mix into each meal a drop (about 1tsp.) of cold press vegetable oil. The oil adds omega 3 and 6 fatty acids which promotes a healthy skin and coat.
That's all, never, never give a Dane pup any other supplements. No calcium! No extra protein, Nothing!
