The Seven Pearls
Sigma Gamma Rho was founded on a predominatly white campus at Butler University, Indiana on November 12, 1922 by seven school teachers. Those teachers were  Mary Lou Allison Gardner Little, Vivian White Marbury, Dorothy Hanley Whiteside, Cubena McClure, Hattie Mae Annette Dulin Redford, Bessie Mae Downy Martin, and  Nannie Mae Gahn Johnson. Sigma Gamma Rho was incorporated in 1929 when a charter was granted to Alpha chapter at Butler.
