Welcome to
The Black Rose
Hypocrisy sucks.  Hypocrisy is the last refuge of a true coward.  It is hard to discern who the hypocrites are until after the fact.  It seems that we are always behind the curve on this.  I prefer those abbrasive in your face people that always say (with no apology whatsoeva) what's on their mind.   Politically incorrect and head strong to a fault,  these are the people with whom you always know where you stand.  Maybe, I am a bit cynical in my dottage but I am too old for people's (and, yes, society's) masquerades on, well, on everything.  Trust is a big thing, huge really, and sometimes when trust is placed on the wrong person the resulting hurt is horrible.  True, the infraction may have been inconsequential but the fact that the point of origin was a trusted source magnifies the hurt.  It is almost as if we blame ourselves for not knowing better.

I have a small philosophy which i have recently adopted.  Simply put it is :
Do what you gotta do.

Simple.  Elegant.  It speaks volumes.  Life is short and we should enjoy it.  By acknowledging that we are all flawed and liable to falter we are now prepared.  Everyone has the right to do what they have to do - we can no better hold someone to someting which may not be in their nature.  Why expect them to do so?  It is time to stop being naive and open our eyes.  When we do this we can (almost always) discern what is going on just below the surface of the masquerade.  What we do with this discerned knowledge is up to us.

We should accept everyone, not at face value, but for who they really are.  If we find that we can't then make your peace and move on.
Do what you gotta do.

Enough tubthumpin'.  Alot has happened since last month.  The human race was made a better species on 9/2/2002 by the relatively tranquil arrival of Lucas James Isaac at 8:33 AM.  A l'il bundle of joy nicknamed Squeek for his exclamations when feeding.  He weighed in at 6.9lbs. and measured 20" in length; the head was 13" in circumference.  It really is amazing how a creature so small, defenseless and cute (He's handsome damnit!  Cute is for girls!) takes over your life.  God bless them!  There is only one addition to the website this month.  It is a short story entitled
Certain Things Are Likely.  I love the story and hope you will too.  Until next time-
