A Warrior's Tribute

By: Sinead
Author's Note: I wrote this as ten at night, not caring for grammar or really spelling, but it seems as I've done fine! This was on a whim of a thought, and I'm not really one to write poems about characters, although I now see that I'm not all that bad at the rhyming part . . . as long as I have RhymeZone.com. *imagine angels singing in the background* Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

A  Warrior's Tribute
By: Sinead, the Katana-Megami / NeoRaptor2004

A slow blink of the eyes,
Causes one to see another,
Causes one to see past the lies,
Causes one to see the true other.

A moment slides by,
Leaving one alone,
Leaving one as a true ally,
Leaving one to the unknown.

To mourn again under stars,
Understanding his gift of life,
Understanding his scars,
Understanding his strife.

I see his face, smiling above me,
Watching the changing faces,
Watching the young enlistees,
Watching the ever-changing places.

To meet him again,
Will I find a friend as he was?
Will I die before then?
Will I see Evil's claws?

Questions as these are never resolved,
They are only phrased differently,
They become evolved,
They deny the truth gently . . .

Rattrap was disturbed from his thoughts by another, who tapped his shoulder cautiously. An accented feminine voice asked, Rattrap?

The bot looked up at his wife, and sighed, shaking his head. Im fine. Cmon, weve gotta go, huh?

Botanica smiled, and nodded, leading the way out the door, into the warm sunlight. As the couple left the small cottage that they had set up outside the city, the shorter Maximal looked up at the clouds and sighed, wondering where his old friend was, and where he, himself, would end up. He looked ahead of him, seeing his new wife, and realized that he wasn't the bot he was, three years ago, when everything started in the Beast Wars. He was different, in a way . . . but it was a good different.

It was that difference in him, that started him to thinking of his old friend, from the Beast Wars, who he had spent many a day arguing with, speaking with, and even fighting beside, in all those battles.

Botanica felt Rattrap stop a few feet outside the doors, and she turned to look at him strangely. Rattrap, if you are not feeling right, then maybe you should stay home from the meeting.

The rodent shook his head, and replied, Listen, Shrubs, Im just revisitin old, dusty memories.

She crossed her arms over her chest. That have you tied up in knots. She blinked once, then said, Neither of us are necessary to this meeting. Maybe you should tell me about what you are remembering. That could help you, by speaking them aloud.

Rattrap, had this been a year ago, when they had first met, would have rejected the idea within the second it was proposed. Yet, since he had become more attached to this strange femme, he came to understand that her judgment was often correct.

He sighed again, and nodded, then sat. If ya really feel dat it would help . . .

You need to let something off of your Spark, she said, smiling as she sat beside him. And Im one of the only ones who understands you.

Rattrap looked up at her, and shook his head slowly. No. Dere was one other.

Who was he?

Dinobot . . .
