318. International Event 2003

Saturday, June, 21st, 2003 / Sunday, June, 22nd, 2003

Three or even four alternative activities we were able to join Saturday… mountain-biking, walking or river rafting. I think a forth group joined the Beach-Volleyball games as spectators.

In fact I was only invited as guest I don’t receive the programme to choose my favourite activity; therefore I was “forced” to do river rafting. “Forcing” is the wrong word. It was great fun and the decision done by Dino was perfect. What a pity he wasn’t able to join because he felt ill and – another pity: I do only know normal pictures from this morning while river rafting. This activity is too dangerous for digital-cameras. We all got wetsuits including special helms and shoes. With paddles, courage and very good professional instructors we went down the river – no one went over board but all went wet (no cold sweat!) – in spite of wetsuits. It was hard, nose bleeding was a result, which looked dangerous and maybe not nice but this fact was not important. It was only the result of too much sun and hot days. We already did so-called river rafting in the past – remember “Bavarian Gaudi” (unfortunately no report from me availableJ) – in Gstaad it was “real” rafting I think.

The lunch break was organized as a really nice pick-nick in the wood nearby the river – I personally think this pick-nick was better than the lunch yesterday evening in the *****-hotel. In the moment I do only have this picture from the lunch – it is not because of the person but to give you an impression of the nature, which is romantic or let me say nature, as we should have more (in other words the background is more important than the crazy and every time hungry guy in front).

After a short “siesta” (I joined the biggest hotel-swimming-pool I’ve ever seen) it was time for “fiesta” (bad word-play). Ah, not to forget: we got a visit from another club-member which needed a internet-connection, but in his hotel he wasn’t able to use one… I hope you’re not longer pissed off (this is only mentioned to/for the person in charge).

We had lunch in the VIP-area at the Beach-Volleyball-Stadium in Gstaad. Instead of the normal served fish I got an alternate meal – this time I was more intelligent than in Murten. Swatch organized some Pro-Team-Members, which also joined the lunch, and later on they made a signing-session. In a raffle we had the chance to win the worn tricot of the Brazilian women team – Sandra Pires and Ana Paula, which, you should know, got the second rank in the competition. Congratulations! Beach-Volleyball was the highlight in the Gstaad-summer – forget the tennis play later on. Here an impression from the scene next to the playground in the evening. And this is not all… at around 10:00 p.m. we went to the party… and had a lot of fun. Wow – from Swatch were two pirate-flags “available”…and “available” is ok here – I think both flags were stolen while the party took place. I also want a pirate-flag!!! You might know this flags are quite rare.

Rare was also our sleeping-periods. Don’t ask questions how we came back to the hotel – for sure we did it in another way as planned. It was later than expected and not official.

Sunday we went too late to the playground because some members need more sleep and we had to wait for them until we were able to left the hotel. I was only able to see 5 minutes of the men semi-finals then I had to leave with the first bus back to Biel were Dirk parked his car. With him I went back to Germany because I didn’t want to come home so late. Other people joined the Beach-Volleyball plays till the final.

Finally I want to say “Thank you”; Thank you to all the people from Swatch, to Dino (don’t forget he named me as “guest”), Dirk and all the others, which did their best to made this 4 days unforgettable. Next week we will meet again in Berlin.
