Being scammed can be an awful thing but there are many things you can do to avoid being scammed.Be sure to refer back to this list and remember...If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

1. Never give your password to
anyone! The Neopets Staff will never ask you for your password either!

2. Never let someone pet sit your pets why you are away, that is what the
neolodge is for.

3.When trading items
ALWAYS use the trading post, if someone refuses to do the trade through the trading post they are probably trying to scam you!

4. Do not believe anyone who says they are The Neopets Staff, that ONLY way the real staff with contact you is from there account
theneopetsteam.

5. If any outside link from someones shop, petpage, userlook-up etc. leads you to a login page
DO NOT enter your information! It is a fake login page unless the URL in the adress bar  reads:http://www.neopets.com/loginpage.phtml

6. Beware of fake contests, there may be a contest in a shop(sometimes even guilds) telling you if you buy 4000np(or whatever the amount may be) worth of stuff they will send you a rare item.
Don't listen! Report their shop. They are just trying to get your neopoints, you'll never hear from them again!

7.Anytime you see a post or neomail that says "I will help you or tell you a 'secret' if you give me a rare item", ignore them. Most neopians will help you for free, post a message on the
guild board someone will be happy to help.

8. Nobody can increase your pet's level, strength or any other attributes, no matter what they tell you. You must do the Faerie Quests, go to the
Training School, or feed your pet special neggs from the Neggery if you want your pet to advance.

9.Some people will neomail you saying that if you change your email address to such-n-such (most likely theirs) then wait a while, you will have a million neopoints on your account or something like that.
This is under no circumstances true, it is a scam to get your password!

10.There are
no secret codes or cheats to become rich over night, there is no magic web page that gives you 1 million neopoints.

Keep in mind: There are no easy ways to get rich. Anybody saying otherwise is probably trying to scam you. If you are unsure if something is a scam or not it is best not to take a chance!

Other good things to know

This isn't a scam in and of itself, but something to look out for. Scammer have certain lines they use and after a while you learn to recognize them, including (but not limited to):

"Not a scam!"
"I am not a scammer!"
"If I lie, report me!"
"No Scam, I swear"
