'38th Parallel' Christian Rock
at neonprimetime's den

Artist

38th Parallel, a 5 man band from Ames Iowa (which happens to be
where my girlfriend was born). These guys are hard rap-rock, very
sweet sounding, and quite possibly our favorite band (besides dc talk).
We've seen them in concert 3 times now, and hope to do it many more.
They sound sorta like linkin park, but the lyrics are so much better.
They have a unique sound because they have not one, but two lead singers.

Turn the Tides Album

Their first album, Turn the Tides, is an album everybody should own.
Hear My Cry, the first song off the album, is the hardest song on the album.
It's loud and upfront, and I love it.
Turn the Tides, the title track off the album, is another sweet combination
of rap and rock. Love it.
Higher Ground, a song the reinforces 38th Parallel's mission, is a bit slower
but still great rock. It's also very fun & easy to sing along with.
Clouded, perhaps my favorite song on the album, has an awesome chorus that I
love so much ... "I want to see you."
Who Am I?, has a great beat, unique to the rest of the album. Very good.
Horizon, the first single off the album, is possibly the best all-around song
on the album. It combines great lyrics and great contemporary sound.
State of Mind is one of the best tracks on the album. It's a song the singers
can actually act out "So here I am, broken on my knees, strething out my
weary hands, grasp them and lift me, help me to find, a rest in your arms
as you change my state of mind."
You Are My God, like Higher Ground, is a great song that reminds us once
again why 38th Parallel is playing their music. True Christians.
Wither is a song that sounds so good, just because of the fact that they have
2 lead singers. They can weave in and out so well.
3 Times Denied, supposedly one of their first songs, is of course about
the disciple that denied Jesus 3 times. It's a great mosh-pit song.
