Paul Haas
Nigus Celetrus Justinus Bani Flambeau. Seer of the clouds' light.

Description: He looks to be maybe in his mid-twenties, with a dashing haircut and a clean-shaven face. The only thing to mar it is the eyepatch running across his forehead to his right eye.

He has a very flashy style of magic and has an exceptional drive when it comes to obtaining more magical power. This drive will likely limit him in the long run, but it does mean he will advance quickly in the early stages of ascension.

Magic Description: "Magic is nothing but the focus of will. But one's foci provides the crutch to focus your terrible concentration upon a single objective, and make that goal come to pass."
He works his magic with the aid of spirits, apparent random chance, and by channelling the powers of the elements. Large collections of the elements tend to do improbable things around him. Smashing a charged capacitor under his boot heel just before a nearby battery erupts in sparks and destroys the electronics connected to it, or sensing the electrical flow from a wire by feeling the EM field or hearing the electrical hum. His Word is "Electricity".
His avatar's physical appearance is best described as that of an Electricity Elemental. It is a fist-sized ball of energy with lightning-like legs. It has a somewhat random sense of humor, and tends to attempt to motivate by a shocking touch.

Has a True Name (Makes him "No Connection" except when physically present - Hermetic book pg 59)

Character Story:

He grew up in a medium-sized southern-californian city. In school he didn't ever really fit in. He was teased quite a bit during grade school, but that fell off as he grew older. By the time he graduated from high school, he was all-fired to go to college for a fire-science degree. But he got interested in elctronics and switched majors after the first year to electronics. He very nearly had his degree before he began to awaken. Soon he got caught up in an initiation program of the Hermetic mages.

He finished up his four-year degree at the college, but then his family lost track of him; Going to a horizon school has the effect of seeming to drop off the face of the earth. There he learned to focus his will to warp the subjective reality around him. in two short years, he was ready to back to earth and perform one of the last steps of his initiation into House Flambeau; the trial.

The Technocracy had become entrenched in the area where he grew up. His was the job of setting back one of their money-making operations in the Santa Barbara area. It turned out to be a knock-down, drag-out fight between a (thankfully unawakened) cyborg and himself. after much dodging and dancing to avoid the gunfire, the cyborg was finally electrocuted by a "lucky" strike from a falling powerline. It was then a simple matter of setting fire to the building.

He settled down in Texas as an apprentice to a more traditional Flambeau. There his wildness was somewhat curbed and he was encouraged to think analytically. He also picked up much of his breadth of spheres from his master, but was not able to sucessfully enter a second seeking. During this time he succeeded in damaging his right eye in a shower of electricity that left burn scars across his body. That incident left him partially sighted and the title "Seer of electricity" (which he often pretties up in interesting ways).

After three years in an enlightened college and four years with his master, he was released to himself.

Rotes / Foci:

Correspondence:
• Sense Connection - Like an itch that can't be scratched, this manifests as a physical feeling on his body that reality isn't right.
This level of Correspondence mixes with other rotes to allow him to affect someplace he cannot see, but that is in the same vicinity.

Entropy:
• Locate Order and Weakness - With him, it's more like a "Locate Chaos" effect, but it works much the same. Large rituals generally include the use of smoke, preferably from a fire started by electricity. Quick rituals may use the similar feeling for "Sense Connection", or a scrying through an active electrical bolt (think of looking through a jacob's ladder)
• Beginner's Luck - This is most-often used effect of "pure" entropy, without being combined into a larger effect. This is usually performed in advance by a ritual of supplication to the elemental lords.
• Games of Luck - While he doesn't gamble, many of his effects stem from odd coincidences. Some of these improbabilities spring from the effect itself and some are first caused by adding this effect to the mix.
This level of Entropy mixes with other rotes to allow small events to occur that help explain the rote coincidentally.

Forces:
• Quantify Energy - This is more of an automatic know-how he has that is explained by his more general knowledge of mathematics and physics.
• Electrical Chaos - This is his most-often used attack rote and has many permutations. One such permutation is by destroying a bank of stored electricity (a battery, a capacitor, etc) he causes electricity to lash out at the target (perhaps with some correspondence). Another is to have something highly electrified come into contact with the target (usually with entropy and correspondence). Another method is to make the subject more electrically charged (for one reason or another; walking across a carpet, a windy day, charged by an electricity elemental, etc), and thus more likely to be zapped.
• Energy Shield - Elemental energy turns aside just enough to miss him. This is often with the "intercession of elementals" or because something else nearby has attracted the energy.
It is important to note that he may not appear to perform much for rituals for this sphere, he believes it is because of some relationship or bargaining with the elementals that influence much of this sphere.

Prime:
• Consecration - An object or person must be consecrated with the elemental lords attending and blessed by some of their power (usually with a small electrocution or burning - not enough for damage).
• Heart's Blood - This is done by actually damaging himself with elemental power (usually electrical burns). The resulting damage is freed as quintessence that is captured by his Pattern.
• Watch the Weaving - He doesn't see energy physically. It doesn't appear as an aura. Instead he has a physical feeling about magic. Correspondence magic feels like an itch on the back of his throat. Entropy magick feels like a hollow pit in his stomach. Forces magick feels like waves of heat or energy washing over him. Prime magick feels like his eye is dried out. Spirit magick makes his ears need to pop.
• Enchant Weapon - Extended rituals of this would appear like any other hermetic ritual; the item is laid on an alter with the elemental lords in attendance, and annoited with energy. Quick effects gnerally see the item morely annoited with energy.
• Holy Stroke - This effect is most commonly mixed with the "Electrical Chaos" rote to give that effect an aggravated damage component. Though if this was to be done by itself, it would be done in much the same methods as the beforementioned rote. Though the results would look particularly like idyllized lightning.

Spirit:
• Detect Possession - As with many other sensory effects, this doesn't have a regular ritual associated with it. Instead those items being maipulated by spirit energies gives him the feeling of pressure. this is like feeling the weight of the water above you on your shoulders, or feeling the heat of a hot fire emenate outward.
• Spirit Sight - This requires that he look through an element to see the spirit realm beyond. Whether looking through a full sparkletts bottle, a quartz crystal, or a jacob's ladder.
• Call Spirit - He doesn't have a "quick" way to call spirits. Only through the use of a circle to call a spirit to and the use of elements can he create a show across the gauntlet that attracts the attention of spirits so he can converse with them.
• The Spirit's Caress - This is most often combined with "Electrical Chaos" to strike spirits across the gauntlet. But when he needs to do something other than damage, he performs an alter-based ritual similar to "Call Spirit".
This level of Spirit mixes with other rotes to allow him to affect the spirit realm with the rote.
