Character Story

Angela was born an only child to a single mother in 1988. Her mother tried to raise her up right, but spent much of the time battling cancer. Her mother died in the hospital when Angela was a mere six years old. Before she passed on, her mother spoke of Angela's father, mentioning that he was some sort of ananasi person.

Her grandparent's took her in and raised her. Angela didn't really like the situation or her grandparents at all. She kept to herself and didn't make many friends. But she did well in school and dutifully did her homework. She developed a love of computers when she was about 10 or 11, and soon had her own collection of them. She saw it as a way that she could be creative and do what she wanted to do, without having to deal with other people.

Angela was 15 that she actually changed and became an Ananasi. Her Grandparents didn't know most of what was going on with her change, but were very concerned. Her interests changed radically, and instead of a loner, she became very interested in watching people. A year later, she couldn't take any more of her grandparents or of school. Angela ran away from home. But it took only three days before she was picked up by a man named 'Hubert' who showed her how to move between forms and how to enter the umbra. He took her into the umbra to begin her learning. She spent weeks in the umbra, learning with tens of others like her. She learned how to eat, how to live, and how to die. And then she was sent off to settle herself. It was the year 2002; she ended up in the state of Washington.

She began as a consultant over the internet, programming computers and building her skills with hacking. All under the assumed identity of an older woman. Angela was fourteen going on thirty, Angela began collecting weaver spirits for study. She would bind them into old, broken electronics so she can poke and prod them at her leisure. She would often spend her spare time in the prenumbra, looking for an interesting morsel to study, contain it, bind it, and take it home. For three years she worked on the internet, manipulated computers to engineer the situations she knew the mother-queen wanted to happen, and collected spirit-spiders and geometric spirits to study. But shortly after she turned 20, her home was one of eighty that were consumed in a seasonal fire. All of her collection was lost, as was her computers and whatever passed as her mortal identity.
