Tobias Manx

In 1920 he was born to a christian couple in a suburb of Chicago. Grew up near chicago, but moved to Missuri in 1936. Joined the Navy when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He became a Religious Assistant, and was stationed in Brazil. There he learned the language, and quite a bit about the wildly different views of spirits and the supernatural.

His leg had been damaged in an accident where a mooring line had snapped. He had to leave the Navy on a medical discharge, so he headed to Florida where he worked quite a bit as a librarian and in occult bookstores. Forced to use a cane for the rest of his life, he took up target shooting to get his mind off of his predicament.

In 1956, he bought an occult-supplies shop in Jacksonville, Florida. "The Silver Chalice", as it was named, proved to be quite an investment for him. After a few years of hard work, it allowed him the slightly greater freedom of travel he required to continuously look for more materials, supplies, and knowledge.

He was down in Brazil again when he met his first vampire, Marco Mestre. The two got to talking, and Marco was fascinated by Toby. Eventually, Toby had to come back to the states, but thereafter, Marco secretly kept tabs on Toby. Then in 1958, Marco showed up again, this time he told Toby of vampires, and some about them. Marco took Toby in as his ghoul, and blood-bound him. Toby spent the following years bouncing between Brazil and the states. His dominar would use Toby as a means to interface with the covenant in the United States, expand Marco's influence, and occasionally would teach Toby more about the society he had been brought into.

It wasn't until 1977 that Marco embraced Toby fully. By then, Toby had a working knowledge of vampires and their abilities. He had also had some dealings with other Dragons by this time, and had established himself as a worthy source of information and supplies.

Toby has been tending his shop since then. In 1981 he started traveling around for more materials and interfacing with the occult community, just like before he was embraced. With the difference of studying what his sire can teach him, and looking for more materials. With the success of his shop in Jacksonville, he now is looking to start a second shop in some distant city.
