Description:
He looks fairly solidly built, though of average height. The paunch of middle age has been kept at bay by a lifestyle of excersize. His hair continues with the rich brown color of his youth. He commonly wears a well-polished breastplate with fine lines etched in it that faintly glow in dim light. Two thick-banded gold rings adorn his hands, a silver symbol of his fiath is tied to a sash around his waist, and an amulet made from bone hangs from his neck. Into combat, he often carries a steel kite shield painted with an emblem of the sun, and a warhammer who's head seems to glow when seen out of the corner of the eye.

Background:
Brian grew up as a shepherd. He would have continued in that life, had it not been an unexpected attack on his village by orcs that left his family decimated. He joined the military and quickly became involved in the religious aspects of the organization.

Time passed and he went from simple chaplin to a clerical warrior of the Brotherhood of Life. Time and bloodshed dulled his pain and gave him a host of friends. He eventually retired from active combat and became enmeshed in the beaurocracy and politics that follows higher-ranked military. Thirty two years of military life have brought him to where he is now; right-hand man of the head of the brotherhood and regularly conversing with the head of the Order. He has even spoken with the king, on occasion.

The Order of Life is an important group in the established religion. Originally it was established by a paladin in the service of his country who needed to reconcile his faith against the needs of his country. Drawing from other aspects of the military, he formed a loyal group around him and established the Order based on the protection of their families and comrades. Rapidly this order became a place for those priests who wished to become involved in the military. The Brotherhood of Life formed as a sub-group to house those who held the same beliefs but were more involved in actual combat. As a general rule, the Order is mostly composed of Clerics, while the Brotherhood is mostly composed of Paladins.
