Man and the Elements
part 4

He decided not to go south just yet. There's still a lot he wants to do here first. Besides it will be very hot there in the summer. What he had planned on doing there can wait, no real hurry. He works on his barn and some smaller buildings. First he finishes up his barn. He starts from the cement floor and built it alone. Its 18x24 feet and will house the tractor and the equipment that goes with it. It takes several days to complete. Then he goes inside and adds shelves and hangers to store smaller stuff.

Meantime he works sometimes on his nature trail through the woods. All the downed logs he saves for future use. He never cuts down a live tree unless its absolutely necessary. The nature trail twists and turns through the woods then down by the river. Its wide enough for two or three people to walk together with ease. Its nice and cool walking there in the shade. Lots of times he sees deer and other small animals. Its a very enjoyable walk for daily exercise or just the relaxation of being in a natural setting. His family enjoys it too, especially the boys on bikes.

There is a small building he wants moved so he uses some of the logs from the nature trail to use for rollers and he rolls the shed where he wants it. Everything goes pretty smooth untill he tries to roll it up a hill. He almost loses it twice when it starts to roll down again. But finally he makes it to the cement floor he has ready for it. There he sets it up permanently as he bolts it down to the cement floor. When he has finished he can hardly believe he moved a 2,000 lb. building alone. The log rollers worked great, he's glad he saveed them.

Then he takes a short break while he decides what he wants to do next. He spends this time resting and visiting with his family and little grandaughter. She is a year old now and at that curious age where she is discovering new things. There is much joy in watching her excitement in her discoveries and he doesn't want to miss it.
