Sweet Innocence

Oh the innocence of a child!

To run almost naked in a summer rain, to splash in the puddles and run through them and not have to worry about getting clothes wet. To stand still and stick out your tongue and catch the raindrops. The sweet taste of the rain! The way it cooled you in the summer heat. How the raindrops would tickle as they ran down your body. These things I know because it was my favorite part of summer. How excited we were to strip down to undies and run about in the rain. To run through the puddles to see how high the water would splash. I wonder if my brother remembers these things as I do. Maybe he remembers them differently. I don't know. The trash in my hair from the puddles, the problem my dad had brushing it out. The difference of childrens play then and the way they play today. We had more fun. I know we did. Children today have a totally different way of playing. They don't use their imagination. Their games are made for them. They should play in the rain just once in their childhood. Then sit on the porch and let the sun and a summer breeze dry them.

Just to feel the joy!
