From the Past
I went riding down the old streets of Savannah beneath a canopy of green with my daughter Sunday. The old huge live oak trees that stand proud on each side of the streets entwine at the top to make a tunnel of green. The spanish moss softly swaying in the gentle breezes. The limbs all twisted and knarled with age. The trees that have been there for ages, long before Oglethorpe ever laid out the first street when it was settled. The generations of Savannians that have passed beneath these trees. From the first settlers newly arrived to the people of today. Instead of carriages of yesteryear, its colorful automobiles of today. In the winter when frost covers everything they are truly beautiful. I am very proud of this city. It has its bad history as well as good, like every other city.
