TALL SHIPS

Walking down the cobbled street on the waterfront you can look around and see the history in the rock on the
street and on the walls of the harbor. Think of the things that happened here in days gone by. Close your
eyes and let your mind drift back in time and you can hear the voices of the stevadores as they unload the
tall ships. See the graceful southern ladies in their bell shaped dresses as they disembark the ships. The gentlemen are calling out to hire a carriage to
escourt their ladies to the main city and home. Hear the blast of a horn as a paddle wheel boat comes in from upriver to pick up supplies and passengers.
Listen to the clip clop of horses hoofs as they sound out on the cobblestones as the carriages leave with their passengers. There goes one of the tall ships
down river as it leaves the harbor on its return journey. Suddenly the blast of a car horn brings you out of the past and you look around and see the huge
ships made from steel and powered by deisel engines instead of sails. what a wonderful scene from the past
to remember always.
