My brother and I were close as children and we played together well for the most part. Once we were down in the field where my dad was clearing some land. Nearby was a field where he had planted corn. At the time I am going to tell about, my dad was breaking corn off the stalks and stripping the leaves and tying them in bundles for cow feed. Anyway, there was an uprooted tree close by and where the dirt was still in the roots was a small hole. Now we had a dog named Kazan that would scratch in the dirt for my brother and me if we said "snake Kazan". Never before had he ever found a snake but he always went along with the game. Well when my brother and I saw the hole in the tree roots we told Kazan "snake". He started his digging and sniffing like always. My brother and I got closer to encourage his digging and to keep the game going. All of a sudden Kazan pulled a snake out of that hole by the tail. Two little white headed kids scattered. We were so surprised that after all this time of the game he had finally found a snake. That little "tale" was told around the neighborhood, and everywhere, by my great uncle and everytime he told it he would get a good laugh out of it. And so would whoever he was telling. My brother and I were always doing things like that. We made good memories. Like one time we were.....But that's another story.

Have you ever hung a hose on a tree limb and took a shower there? I have many times, and man that water is cold! So my dad made us a shower out in the back yard. He made a square frame and put some black insulation board or tarpaper not wure which now, around the frame. On the top he mounted a barrel. A water hose was put in the barrel and left there. It was the duty of my brother and me to make sure the barrel was filled in the morning so the sun could warm the water. If we forgot, it was a cold shower at night. We didn't forget but a couple of times. Then we got a hot water heater and run a hose out the window to shower. Not long after that we started building us another house. That took almost a year. One time..
