The Legacy

I have been watching some programs on television about extreme engineering and the building of super highways.

I thought about how great it must be to leave a legacy behind for generations to come, to enjoy. The tall buildings that stretch far into the sky. The highways over deep chasms and through mountains, across raging rivers and small musical streams.

I can only imagine how proud an engineer or a builder can be, to be a part of this. To see into the future and how it will affect our children.

In fact in japan they built a sky city with trains to move people about. The way they finally figured out how to build it to withstand high winds and earthquakes, to make it safe and livable and self supporting. About how they made an island and then built an airport on it and the bridge that goes out to it. How they figured out a way to use massive jacks to keep it from sinking. To me its just amazing!

The highways out in Colorado blended into the trees in a way that it didn't detect too much from nature. Along waterfalls and beautiful mountains yet still making the beauty available to travelers. Some day maybe I can really see it, and travel across it and see the beauty for myself.

To know you had a part in making something beneficial and enjoyable for generations far into the future. It must give a person a great feeling of accomplishment. To make one feel like hes standing ten feet tall. The feeling of pride brightly shining on his face for all to see and say "I did that! I did it with the help of others like me." A great legacy for us and for those generations yet to be born. I wish one of those had been me. Maybe tomorrow the stars! Who knows?
