Indian Village of the Past

Down at the back of a field on my grandad's farm at one time was an indian village. At least that's what I was told. It must have been true because in the spring when the land was tilled to plant corn we would always go look for arrowheads. It was always fun to look around for them and the smell of the fresh tilled land always pleased me. Back then we used mules to till
with and sometimes I would walk behind my uncles in the furrows. Oh the joy of being a child! The best time to look for arrowheads was after a good rain when the sand was washed away and the arrowheads were left atop a little mound. Then they were easy to spot. I often wondered, then and now, what tribe of indians were there and where the actual location was. How did they live and how big was the village. If they stayed
there year round or if it was just a summer place.  Could anything be discovered about what tribe was there or is it too late? My grandad died in 1969 and my uncle has the farm now and I think he rents the land out to someone. But I often think about going back to look for arrowheads again. Could I still find any? Maybe one day I will go back. But I will always wonder which tribe was there and why they left. Were they happy there? Sometimes in my mind I can see them there and hear the happy sound of the children at play.  I can see the braves and their women going about their duties and taking care of each other. In my mind they were happy there in that cool shaded grove of trees. I am sure there was a pond there then as there was in my
childhood where they caught fish. In the forest there they could hunt deer also because it wasn't far from the Ohoopee River. They were happy and prosperous, I am sure of it!
