Moonlight Together

The moon was shinning very bright. The stars twinkled in the distance. The milky way was stretched across the sky. It was a night for lovers. Hand in hand they strolled along the beach. They had been together a long time and they were happy together. The children were grown and one had moved to another town about 80 miles away. The youngest had moved to a neighboring state and only came home every month or so. The middle child had stayed in town. He kept an eye on them to make sure everything was ok. Now it was their turn! They both loved moonlight strolls on the beach. They did it often when they were courting and in the early years of their marriage. Then when the kids came along it was almost impossible. Once in a while they could sneak away for their moonlight walks when the grandparents kept them overnight. Now they could go as often as they liked and they were there almost every night. They had a lot of years to make up and it made them close again. Sometimes they would talk about old times or the kids. Soon there would be grandkids so they needed this time of renewal. Some nights they would just sit arm in arm and watch the moon beams dance on the crest of the waves. They wanted this time for themselves even after the grandchildren, and they would have it, and they would have the enjoyment of children again. They had done their part now they had time to spend together doing things they had missed.
