Savannah in Spring

Riding down the streets of Savannah yesterday, I thought how beautiful this city is in spring. Everywhere is green, especially St Patricks day. But the flowers are blooming, the azaleas and the dogwood trees with the green of the live oaks with the moss hanging there really make it beautiful. All along the streets are patches of azaleas and dogwoods, and in the parks the fountain has green water. The grass is so green like it grew just for this special day. Then the houses have flowers in the yards and pansy beds, now and then you see one with window boxes of pansys. This is a beautiful time of year when the land is awake with new life. Then River Street! Oh the people, and the ships. The streets are dressed up for St patricks, and the people are too, with green beards and hair (some of them) and green T-shirts everywhere. Everyone is in a happy mood. Probably been partying all day. People from all over the states, and I heard some from abroad. The bands are great and I think there are about three of them. The bagpipe band in their kilts, I have snapshots. The food stations smell so good. I didn't buy an armband to drink, I spent that on food. I had more fun not drinking. I danced and totally enjoyed it. And the Coast Guard ships and boats were there too. You've missed a lot until you go to at least one St Patricks Day celebration in Savannah, Georgia.
