Our Brave Firemen
On this day, September 11, 2001, when the twin towers
of the World Trade Center are hit by hijacked planes,
many firemen rush there to save lives. Not thinking of
their own safety, they rush into the buildings. Then
the first tower collapses trapping them inside. Other
firemen rush into the other tower only to have it
happen again. Many are trapped trying to save others.
More firemen rush into the rubble as soon as they can
and start digging. They move rocks and stone till
their hands are covered with blood from cuts. Still
they keep digging, minute after minute, hour after
hour. When they are so exhausted they can't lift
another stone others arrive and take their places.
Firemen come from other cities, and other states.
Round the clock they dig. A few survivors are found
and lots of bodies that have to be identified. The
bravery of those men is unsurpassed. Finally after
days of digging all hope fades of finding any
survivors but still they did. They are outraged that
someone could do this to so many innocent people but
anger has no place here now. Love is what counts now.
Love for each other, love for our country. Together
they pray to find more people. Together they risk
their lives. These men are our brave countrymen. I am
proud of them all, as all Americans are. Some will
join others in God's gentle care. Surely he has a
special place for them there. We must never forget the
bravery of our firemen. God bless them all!
