WORLD KOSHIKI KARATE-DO FEDERATION

KOSHIKI KARATE-DO IN MALAYSIA

Koshiki Karate-Do was introduced to the state of Perak by Shihan Neoh Then Hock (Kenshi 4th Dan) in the year 2000 after his returned from the "Asia-Pacific Koshiki Karate-do Championship" in Bandung, Indonesia 26/07/2000 - 31/07/2000. 

He decided to form an Association for Koshiki Karate-do in MALAYSIA to promote the "hard contact karate", but he was asked to form the state body first by the Malaysia Commissioner of Sports (under the Ministry of Youth & Sports).  The "Perak Association of Koshiki Karate-do" was approved by the Ministry on 17/10/2001.

Prior of forming this newly association, Shihan Neoh Then Hock was the founder too for the "Perak Karate-Do Academy Association" to promote karate sport particularly in the "semi contact karate" and as well organized a number of competitions and activities for the development and betterment of karate-do generally either in martial art or sport in Perak and Malaysia such as:

 Championships & Activities organized by the Perak Karate-Do Academy Association

  1. 08/05/94: Interschool Karate Championship at the Poi Lam High School, Ipoh.
  2. 03/06/95 - 05/06/95: Karate-Do Academy Centralize Training at the Poi Lam High School, Ipoh.
  3. 06/06/95: 2nd Interschool Karate Championship at the Poi Lam High School, Ipoh.
  4. 18/08/96: RAKAN MUDA Karate Open Championship at the Poi Lam High School, Ipoh.
  5. 22/06/97: 3rd Interschool Karate Championship at the Department of Youth and Sports, Ipoh.
  6. 17/08/97: 2nd RAKAN MUDA Karate Open Championship at the SRJKŠ Chung Tack, Ipoh.
  7. 11/07/98: 4th Interschool Karate Championship at the SRJKŠ Bercham, Ipoh.
  8. 19/12/98: Organized the "Cardio MA (Martial Art)" with the Perak Physical Fitness Association.
  9. 30/10/99: 5th Interschool Karate Championship at the SRJKŠ Sam Chai, Ipoh.
  10. 09/07/00: 6th Interschool Karate Championship at the SRJKŠ Chung Tack, Ipoh.
  11. 16/09/01: 3rd RAKAN MUDA Karate Open Championship at the SRJKŠ Perak, Ipoh.
  12. 29/06/03: RAKAN MUDA Koshiki Open Championship at the SRJKŠ Chung Tack, Ipoh.
  13. 26/06/04: TCS School Karatedo Competition at the SMK Tarcisian Convent, Ipoh.
  14. 04/09/04: Koshiki Karatedo Seminar & Referee Clinic at the Perak Department of Youth & Sports.
  15. 09/10/04 & 10/10/04: Perak Junior Koshiki Karatedo Championship at the Perak Department of Youth & Sports.

Demonstration successful did by Karate-Do Academy from 1994-2004

1.    Karate-Do Academy was invited by the Jabatan Belia & Sukan Negeri Perak (Department of Youth & Sports, Ministry of Youth and Sports) for the promotion of karate martial art under the RAKAN MUDA/RAKAN WAJADIRI in the state of Perak on 31.12.1994. Rakan Muda/Rakan Wajadiri is a programmed to encourage youth to take up healthy activities such as martial arts.

2.    On 05.05.1995, Karate-Do Academy was the only martial art invited by the Jabatan Belia & Sukan Negeri Perak to give a public demonstration of Karate for the official opening of the National Athletic Championship at the Perak Stadium in front of the DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah ibni Almarhum Sultan Yussuf Izzuddin Shah Ghafarullahu-lah.

3.    Karate-Do Academy again invited by the Jabatan Belia & Sukan Negeri Perak to give a public demonstration for the "Le Tour de Langkawi" at the Ipoh Padang on 03.03.1996. Karate-Do Academy is the only karate association to perform the demonstration.

4.    On 13.04.1997, Karate-Do Academy was invited to give a public demonstration at the Greentown Mall, Ipoh by the Kinta District of the Physical Fitness Association.

5.    Other than the above, many invitations also received by the association to give public demonstration for official functions, and schools to encouraging students taking up Karate-do as a form of discipline, self development and betterment, involving in school co-curriculums particularly in uniform bodies such as martial arts and sports.

 

INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:

1.    28/07/00 - 30/07/00: Asia-Pacific Koshiki Karatedo Championship in Bandung, Indonesia (wining a bronze medal in the "Male Kata" event).

2.    06/03/02 - 11/03/02: Japan Open Koshiki Karatedo Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

3.    26/11/03 - 03/12/03: World League Koshiki Karatedo Championship in Lisbon, Portugal (winning a silver medal in the "Male Kata" event and also awarded the Best Technique).

 

After Shihan Neoh Then Hock returned from Tokyo in 2002, he decided concentrate fully in the sport of "hard contact karate" and that is why he made up his mind to hold the 1st Koshiki competition in 2003 in the state of Perak and the championship is open to various styles of karate-do.  To make the Koshiki sport more enjoyable, he decided to conduct a "seminar and referee clinic" to various style of karate-do and form of martial arts on 04/09/2004.  To promote Koshiki karate-do especially to the youth, he decided to have a "junior championship" in 2004.

Other than the above, Shihan Neoh Then Hock hoping that a national body in MALAYSIA will set up in the country with the strong support from other styles of karate-do in their respective states to promote "Safety Contact Karate" which is an ideal sport and a practical martial art.  He believes the ruling and governing body under the World Koshiki Karate-do Federation will always give its utmost support to the individual states bodies for the promotion of Koshiki Karate-do which will under the future governing body - Malaysia Association of Koshiki Karate-do.
