The Iliad Dueling Game

The following is a crude outline of my Iliad adaptation of the recently released Star Wars Dueling game. It's a combination board and card game of the simple but addictive variety. I'll post the actual rules to the game soon, but for now it's just the teams and their cards.


Day of Glory - all attacks and defenses for your units are doubled for 1 cycle

Divine Favor - counter any of opponent's cards and send to discard pile


Patroclus (12 hp) - Tend to the Wounded (heal 6 pts to anyone), 3/4, 5/3

Achilles (30 hp) - Retaliate (blockable - deal same damage to attacker as taken), Vengeance (If Pat dead 10 else 5), Deathblow (if not blocked 9 else 3), Warrior's Reflexes (instant - deal 3 damage), 5/5, 7/1


Odysseus (22 hp) - Infiltrate (look at opponent's hand and discard one), Ambush (unblockable - 5 damage), Sneak Attack (unblockable - deal damage equal to defense of target), Cunning Plan (select card at random from opponent's hand and put it in yours - may be played as an Odysseus card then returned to opponent's discard pile), 5/4, 3/6

Diomedes (20 hp) - Sabotage (opponent discards 2 cards at random OR 3 cards of own choice), Loud War Cry (6 to any target regardless of position), 4/5, 6/3


Agamemnon (22 hp) - Royal Prerogative (instant - switch positions with friendly unit), Command (all units deal 5 dmg - count as separate attacks for blocking), Rallying Cry (restore 4 hp to any unit including dead ones - dead units re-spawn in any space adjacent to Agamemnon), Wrath (blockable - deals dmg equal to half remaining hp of defender rounded down), Withering Scorn (2 dmg and lose one move), 4/5, 5/3

Elite Greek Infantry (10 hp) - 3/2, 2/3

Elite Greek Archer (10 hp)r - 3/2, 2/3


Paris (26 hp) - Run Away (move up to 8 spaces), Dodge (instant - move up to 5 spaces), Lucky Shot (deals damage equal to half defender's max hp)r, Dazzle (opponent discards a card and loses one move)r, Shot on the Run (5 dmg and move 6 spaces)r, 2/5r, 3/4r

Trojan Archer (8 hp)r - 1/2, 2/1

Hector (42 hp) - Dervish (4 dmg to every adjacent enemy), Counter (take no dmg and deal 2 to attacker), Herculean Strength (8 dmg), Defender (def 12), Glancing Blow (instant - deal 2 damage), 6/3, 4/5


Menelaus (30 hp) - Centrifugal Force (5 dmg and move defender 6 spaces), Steadfast (def 20), Lovelorn (all players discard hands and draw 5 cards), Silver Studded Sword (10 if defender at full hp else 5), Righteous Fury (7 dmg), Duel (heroes can only attack heroes and support units attack support units for 1 cycle - can be revoked by a second Duel card or when no other alternative is available), 5/5, 3/7

Greek Infantry (6 hp) - 2/1, 1/2

Greek Archer (6 hp)r - 2/1, 1/2
