Helping you learn about our breed

Before you breed your dogs,  you must be mentally and physically & financially ready for any possible out come. The end result can be very heart breaking. Knowing the problems that consists in your dogs bloodlines, is the "key" to breeding healthy, typey, sound puppies. If you do not know the your dogs bloodlines, there is no safe breeding practice. So do you home work, research them lines and understand the dogs you have at home before you breed them. Just because your dog comes from a champion in its pedigree, does not make him / her a breeding specimen. If you still are not sure if your dogs have enough qualities to become breeding quality dogs, Please read the Standard.

Out - Crossing
Outcrossing happens when the two dogs being bred are not related at all. In some cases you may run into ancestors alot farther back in the pedigree, 5-6 generations, but that is safe. therefore refer to an outcross as a mating with no common ancestors in the first 5-6 generations. Outcrossing usually produces larger, less typey dogs. If outcrossing is continuely done in your breeding program, you end up breeding dogs with many different looks such as inconsistant head types, leggier dogs, lack of bone / mass / wrinkle / etc.

.
In Breeding
Inbreeding happens when the two dogs being bred is very closely related. Such as:
father to daughter, mother to son, brother to sister, half brother to half sister.
This kind of breeding should only be done by the experienced breeder. This is type of breeding should NEVER be done if both dogs have serious faults. Serious measures might have to be taken in the case of abnormalities. You might have to be ready to cull your pup(s). You are breeding 100% of the problems in your dogs bloodlines with this type of breeding is done.
Again this type of breeding should only be done by the experienced breeder.

Line Breeding
Linebreeding happens when the two dogs being bred are relatives. Such as:
Uncle to Neice, Aunt to Nephew, Grandfather to Granddaughter, Grandmother to Grandson, First Cousins. With this type of breeding you are doubling up on genetics, this is "safer" breeding then inbreeding, but still should only be done if you understand the faults in your dogs bloodlines.
