Rock Quilt
Tan sand.
Red clay.
Turquoise.
Lapis.
The creator
Played with the silicates
And phosphates,
The Copper, the Aluminum, and
The golden spangles of Iron pyrites.
Dodecahedral
And other geometric arrangements
Manipulate the light.
And now this quilt
Depicting the patchwork mineral,
Through human channeling,
Is flashing to me a sidelong glimpse
Of the mind of God.
