Guilt and Innocence

Although we can’t change earthquakes

Or steer tornados

We are bending the earth to our will

And our sloppiness.

If we cried for all the conquest

And all the starvation

Everest would be submerged

And only dimly lit.

But we are here now

With media that is tired of yesterday’s story.

How does it help to dwell

On the sins of our grandfather’s fathers?
