Nursing Home Medical Station

Driftwood on a woody beach.

Many of their joints seem extra large

But its the withering of their formerly muscular parts

That sets off their nodules as large.

Barking seals on a forgotten beach.

Some stammer or repeat nonsense

With personal earnestness that has lost its context

Among the disregarded and forgotten.

Beached whales on an asphyxiating beach.

They all appear out of their element

In a world they once mastered that moves way too fast

Except in their memories.

Wooden faced monkeys on a rainforest beach,

One to a lounge-chair raft,

Sit in the fluorescent glow they can only dimly perceive

Waiting for a car or relative that comes too rarely.

Converse babies on a neap-tide beach,

Their worlds shrinking in consideration

Of the universe incessantly spinning in upon itself

With ever shorter radii on deeper centers.
