ABOUT POE
Poe's first album "Hello" came out in 1995, around the same time when female artists like Liz Phair, No Doubt, The Cranberries, Hole, Tracy Bonham, and Sarah McLachlan were popular. But Poe was different. She embraced the internet, her lyrics were a littler darker than most, and her songs truely rocked. If you don't believe me, just check out the video of "Hello" on the bottom of this page.

After a long wait of five years, Poe second album "Haunted" was released. It was no coincidence that her album came out on October 31, 2000, right on the day of holloween. The music on the new album is like a glimpse into Poe's mind, and her feelings, after her father passed away many years ago. The album contains recordings of her father's voice, which Poe intergraded into her songs quite well. The album was kind of like a final tribute from Poe to her father, and that she (and he) could move on now. For more information, go to her VERY COOLOfficial website (doesn't work), or her fans' website. Also, listen to WBER, who has placed Poe's new song "Walk the Walk" in heavy rotation.

It has been six years since Poe's last album, and she has been out of the spotlight for a while. She has been having record label troubles, but her website realpoe.com has been a main source of information for the past couple of years. And just recently, Poe joined the myspace community at her myspace page. This is where the most up-to-date information about Poe can be found. Plus you can listen to your favorite Poe songs on it.
Poe's 11/16/2001 concert:
One year after Poe's album release, Poe's new single "Haunted" is played on WBER. She also performed a concert in Rochester on November 16, 2001. It has been five years since she last performed in Rochester, and it was great for me to see Poe for the first time, after liking her music for the past five years. Before she came on stage, the Star War theme song was played. Everything went dark, and Poe came running out onto the stage. She started out with a heavy and powerful (strong) rendition of Rochester's favorite Poe single in 1996, the Band Version of "Hello". Next up was one of my favorites from her new album, "Wild". Poe did some crowd surfing near the end of this song, when the band jammed for like 2 minutes. Then came "Beautiful Girl", in which Poe invited a few fans to join her on stage to dance with her. Next was "Dolphin", dedicated to people who likes to stay under water a lot. Some technical difficulties caused Poe to sing "That Day" vocally. With the technical problems fixed, Poe sang "Walk The Walk", the first single from hew second album. Next, Poe did "Hey Pretty", and she invited a kid on stage, who claimed to know every word in that song. After that, Poe asked where her fan club, the Angry Psychos' members are, because they wouldn't be able to contain themselves, when Poe performed the next song "Trigger Happy Jack". The crowd, and Poe erupted into a jumping frenzy during the jamming part of that song. Poe then followed through with the song "Angry Johny", dedicated to all the Johns in the audience. Next, Poe wanted to know if anyone has any good ghost stories, because she was about to sing "Haunted". The song is also on the Blair Witch 2 soundtrack. Near the end of the song "Haunted", Poe went off stage, and walked around the whole venue. After Poe got back on stage, she did "Control", and the crowd was in such a frenzy afterwards, that Poe had to do a very mellow song, "Fly Away", to cool the crowd down. The regular set was finished at that time, but the crowd wanted more, and the cheering and feet stomping finally got Poe back on stage. During the encore, Poe first did the song "Not A Virgin", which she left on her mom's answering machine the night after she lost her virginity,. Then she did "Choking The Cherry". The very last song was filled with a lot of soundbites from her father, "5&1/2 Minute Hallway". Even though the crowd wanted more after that, everyone was tired after Poe's long hour and a half show. It was one of the best concert I've ever been to, and can't wait for her to come back, even if it takes another five years.
