Author’s Notes

Well, I assume you’re my only audience Ms. Matheson so I’ll address you as the audience for this section. I know you didn’t ask for this section but I decided three reasons that made it worth putting in here:

1)      It gives you an insight into my rather…sadistic writings

2)      It gives a good section for well bibliographical information on my pics

3)      It adds a personal touch to my paper and it’s just cool

First, let me explain each picture I used in this paper.

The first picture is a resin model kit of a character named Rei in Neon Genesis    Evangelion – an anime about destiny and god which I really need to see…but the only change I made to the picture was adding her name over top of the website I got it from’s logo

The second picture I used is a fan art I gathered off of some website and is a character from Squaresoft’s popular Chrono Cross game, which I haven’t played.

The third picture is Kaolla Su from Love Hina which is in my opinion the greatest anime ever to exist. Better yet, the greatest SHOW ever to exist. Obviously, she’s rather…hyper and not quite in high school but the picute was something I could work with and I did cut a turtle she was carrying out of the picture.

The fourth picture is Michiru, a lesbian Sailor Senshi (soldier) in Sailor Moon. She’s athletic, smart, and well in love with another girl and I honestly find there romance to be extremely alluring and deeper than any other romance I’ve ever seen in a work of fiction or fact, even more so then Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

The last two pictures are a few rather grim pictures from Squaresoft’s Sleeper hit, Xenogears. It’s about two destined lovers who have to fight an ancient race I believe…its’ been a while since I played it but the first pic is Elly, and the second is Fei when he’s young.

From there Ms. Matheson I wrote the stories trying to revolve them around the pictures I had collected. I’m not asking for any extra credit for giving you three stories, in fact I’m upset to do so. But, I was rather unsatisfied with the satire in the first one so I attempted another character and failed again. On my third attempt I feel I captured it rather well but had no clue how to stretch the story’s length. I’m only hoping that the three combined will equal one very good one and achieve me the A I’m shooting for here. Well enjoy the read and if you have any questions you know how to reach me I’m sure.

On a final note, it’s about 5:50 pm so I estimate this story took about 2 hours…I’m not sure how long it should take so I ask you for a reply whether or not this work should have taken as long/short.

Prologue

One Friday morning, five Woodlawn students and I decide to cut school and take a trip. We meet in front of the 7-Eleven on Woodlawn Drive, stock up on snacks and soda, pile into Rei’s jeep and head for Patapsco State Park, in search of a quiet afternoon with friends.

Now, at this time in my life I was going through quite a lot of stress through work, school, girlfriend and the like. But, that’s enough about me. The other passengers on this journey are where the story is to be told.

First off we had the ROTC Officer in the front seat. His name was Kamui, he looked his name with an obvious Asian background and to be exact he was Japanese. His father was a soldier in the United States Army and the rest of his family goes back to the Meiji era. Fighting was in his blood but even more so was loyalty. You couldn’t tell by the silence and steadiness he kept himself at but family life had always been hard for him. He had long brown that curved in front of his face and he had dark brown eyes that always seemed to catch everything around him yet not really see anything at all. He was the perfect example of discipline on the outside and measured in at about 5’10. He even sat in the seat perfectly and as you noticed his appearance you saw he had a clean-shaven face, freshly slicked hair, and crisp slacks, dress shoes, and a shirt.

Second, we had the driver, Rei.  She was an intellectual prodigy and the most punctual person you’d ever meet. Everything she did, she did perfectly, even skipping school. She came to each person’s house and picked them up at exactly three-minute intervals. She did all of this without speeding and considering the distance everyone lived from each other it was a wonderful feat. She even got everyone to 7-Eleven at 7:15 on the dot. When she reached the store instead of buying snacks like everyone else she used her mirror to fix her hair and her make-up. An extremely petit figure and even cuter than she was frail, and she had all the features of an angel. She had short blue hair and deep brown eyes that always gave guys the idea she was flirting. She had slight Asian features and was of Japanese decent as well she had transferred from Jubaan High school in Japan but never quite felt right. Her parents were very wealthy and always at business meetings or on business trips, leaving her home alone more often then not.

On my left was Selphie. She was the best artist on the east, west, north, or south of any major river or landmark. She could probably make that same reference point more beautiful than it really was. Her art was a quality that surpassed most people making hundreds of thousands a year. Most of what she drew showed the beauty in something most people wouldn’t think beautiful. Her art touched people as much as her words. She was short, with short blond hair which she usually kept in 2 long braids on either side of her head, and she had bright blue eyes that gave off a strong innocence and took in a vivid knowledge. She was also the skinniest girl you’ll probably ever meet and it was to the point where it only took one arm to wrap her waist in. No one seemed to care though and she was usually alone admiring the beauty around her while ignoring the lusciously beautiful being she was.

On my right was our chronic absentee buddy Sue. She was short with wild blond hair and childish green eyes. She was a freshman this year and was short enough to make you think as much. She always came to school on late…if she came. She’d seen her first period class as much as I’ve seen a leap year, granted it’s only been half a school year though I don’t predict a change. She usually gets to school around halfway through second period, then she goes to sleep. She wakes to go to the next class and goes to sleep again. At lunch she has more energy than any kid I’ve ever seen. She gets to lunch first, finishes first, and starts her second lunch before most have there first. She may not get any work done but if you paid her to eat you’d get your money’s worth. She had an obvious “California blond” attitude and represented it very well. She walked slowly and sluggishly and was very forgetful too. Not once, but twice I’ve seen her come to school barefoot and honestly more than a few people worried about her home life.

Sitting under Selphie was Michiru, the swimmer. Her swimming could make a dolphin look like an aquatic snail and she knew that. She’d gotten rather strong from her day in and day out training and she’d become so attached to the water she felt out of place on land. She had long, flowing, deep brown and green hair that seemed to blend with the water color. She had deep green eyes that had become very skilled at underwater vision. Her voice was gentle but her taste was even more gentle. She knew her body’s capacity and was all too pleased at her female design. She’d never had time for many friends other than her fellow swim team members who often invited her over for a dip in the pool in their back yards. She spoke laughingly a few times on the journey but only seemed interested in talking to Selphie the whole time.

“Hey guys.” I said looking watching each give me a glance, “Why don’t we tell stories ya know a kinda truth or dare with just the truth? I mean come on this ride’s too quiet.” Everyone agreed. After a lot of coercion, Kamui decided to go first and confide in all of his friends.

The ROTC Officer’s Tale

“I’m 17 now and about 9 years ago when I was 8 everything changed.”

Walking home from school one day Kamui was approached by two other kids who were a year or two older and they told him to give them his money and book bag. Kamui had just gotten his mom to buy him a game boy at the time and he had talked her into letting him take it to school on the wrong day. He tried to fight the kids instead of saying no and they beat him to the ground, took his game boy and left. When he finally got home all bloody and with tear-filled eyes his parents began to ask what happened. His dad found out that his mom had let him take the game boy to school and had bought it for him. His dad began to scream and holler and throw things and then in the middle of the arguing his sister walked in. She had on a very short skirt and that only gave Kamui’s dad more reason to yell. He called her into the living room and beat her for wearing such “unlady like” clothing to school and then beat Kamui’s mom for letting him take the gameboy to school. For years his parents had been fighting over trivial matters that “interfered with the integrity of the family” according to his dad. His mom finally decided to leave, she grabbed Kamui’s sister and ran for the door but Kamui’s dad stopped her and told her to get on the ground and do push ups while he beat there daughter for her inappropriate behavior. Instead she told him no and Kamui’s dad walked over to Kamui and after 8 years of teaching him to follow his every order told his son to do as he said and went to his room. He came back down with a .9 mm Beretta and told his son that the only way to handle communist scum like his mom was to shot her “for your country boy.” Kamui didn’t believe what was happening but his father told him to pull the trigger on his sister first and he did she looked down and saw the blood coming from her stomach wound and before she could mutter the question on her mind she dropped to the floor. At this point, Kamui’s mom tried to run again and threw a vase at his father’s head who then caught the vase and hit her with over the head with it, rendering her unconscious. Kamui’s father began to tell Kamui about honor, loyalty, and family integrity and after hours of the speech he had gotten the boy to believe what he did was needed then he told him to drag his mother’s body out back while he drug his own daughter’s as they planned to bury them in the back yard. As they got out back Kamui’s dad fired two shots into his mother’s skull and left Kamui who was within a foot of his mom shaken and extremely scared.  Kamui didn’t’ know what to do and his father began to bury the two and sent his son to bed. Two days later, his father sent him to military school and was never heard from again. When Kamui was fifteen he found out his father was in jail and had been forced to relinquish his son to the state who then put him up for adoption. He was adopted by a first class sergeant and had continued to live his life under someone else’s rule until this date.

No one knew of what to say after that but then twenty minutes later we were at the park and

The Chronic Absentee’s Tale

“I remember the first day of eighth grade.”

Arriving early to school as usual since her mom drove her to school in the morning, Sue went into the cafeteria and got her breakfast. When she got out of the line this suave looking guy was already sitting in her seat and she sat next to him and eat her meal. Naïve and completely oblivious to the reason a boy would sit next to her. She continued to eat while he talked to her. They hit it off all too easy and his words were smoother than the brand new table she eat at. He was a born sales man and instead of candy this year he was selling himself to the ladies. She bought into it all too easily. He and her started talking on the phone and he quickly got her interested in the idea of staying after school with him and making out in the gym. After about a week his hands had started to roam every day and she didn’t know what to do but she knew it felt good. He talked to her and convinced her one day after school to come to his house. When she did he then proceeded to describe the cons of latex and the pros of exercise.

The next day he wasn’t at the table and when she finally found him he sent her on her way, which just so happened to be away from him. She walked away sullenly and went about to live the next few months of her life normally. After about 2 months she realized something was missing but didn’t know what. Then she started to gain weight and every time she noticed she thought of exercise and that damned boy again. However, she never put the pieces together and after a few months her mom confronted her asking her what she had been doing. She finally caved and her Catholicism to a T mother sent her out the door.

At this point she found her way to her grandmother’s house who helped her through the next few months of her pregnancy and every day with the incessant whining of the baby she never did make it to school on time or get quite enough sleep the night before.

“YOU HAVE A BABY?” was everyone’s reaction.

The Co-Op Student’s Tale

“Well I do have a secret.”

As was the usual routine, Rei was leaving school after fourth period to go to her college classes. She took Woodlawn drive to Security Boulevard and headed right at the light, pulling into her driveway at about 11:30. She took her books out of the back seat and headed upstairs for her classes. She walked slowly and as she got to the back door she snuck inside to her bedroom and enjoyed her parallel enrollment in both the sheets and the blanket. Awakening just about 2 as her alarm was always set for. She ended her classes and drove to CCBC where she picked up her “notebook” tape recorder that she “accidentally forgets” in class every day and took it home to do her homework. Perhaps she’d go to class there tomorrow. The professor did say he was going to collect something. So, she finally got home and ended what was yet another day of Advanced Learning.
