PoKéOh! Written by Atma Author's note: I like Pokemon. I like Yugioh. So why not combine them? Here goes! Disclaimer: Pokemon is owned by Nintendo. Yugioh is owned by Konami. Atma the Charizard is owned by me. Blah blah blah, images on monitor are closer than they appear, blah blah blah, grenades are for throwing not eating, blah blah blah, satisfaction guaranteed or you money back -- oh wait, you didn't pay anything, so HA! Anyway, on with the fanfic. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- "I'm here to duel the gym leader for a boulderbadge," I announced. "Very well then. I am Brock, the gym leader. Let's get started!" As he led me to the virtual arena, I wondered what this battle would be like. How strong was he? What types did he use? Would I win or lose? And then we reached the arena, and prepared to battle. "As the challenger, it's your privelege to go first. Let's duel! Atma 2000 Brock 2000 "As my first move, I play one of my favorites, the basic pokemon Charmander in attack mode!" A hologram of the fire-lizard appeared in a flash of light, and gazed across at my opponent. Charmander 800/600 "Ah, a Charizard who uses Charmander to duel. Touching, but weak! Come on out, Omanyte!" A helix shell appeared on the playing field, and then it lifted up as the ancient pokemon showed his face. Omanyte 700/1250 "Omanyte, attack that Charmander with Water Gun! Remember, you get a +400 bonus for an effective Attack of 1100 because Water is super effective!" The fossil pokemon shot out a stream of water, and his Fire-type opponent vanished. Atma 1700 Brock 2000 "So you're playing a water deck? Well I can fix that! Mareep, come out and Thundershock!" Mareep 900/600 The electric sheep appeared and released an electric attack. The Omanyte retreated into his shell, then vanished from the attack. But something was wrong. "...I took out your Omanyte! Why didn't your Life Points go down?" "You're out of your league, rookie! Or else you'd know that Omanyte automatically switches to defense mode when attacked!" "And since he's in defense mode, you don't take any damage... very well, continue." "Fine. I'll play this card fade down, and I summon Geodude!" The basic Rock-type pokemon appeared and prepared for battle. Geodude 850/900 "So your deck is rock, not water!" "Indeed. Geodude, use Tremor!" The virtual battlefield shook, and Mareep collapsed. Atma 1350 Brock 2000 How could I beat his Rock-types? I had no Grass-types in my deck, and the one Water-type wasn't in my hand. So, I had to try something else. "I play Abra. Unfortunately, he can't attack without an equip card, but his Attack value is high enough to hold off your Geodude!" Abra 1100/300 "A clever move, but you're not the only one who can defend. Onix, defense mode!" And the giant rock snake appeared. Onix 350/2200 I drew my card for the turn, and looked at it in amazement. Kadabra! This draw was perfect! "I evolve Abra into Kadabra and attack! Kadabra 1900/800 "Not so fast! The card I played was the trap card Waboku, which blocks your attack!" Damnit! If he kept blocking my attacks, how could I win? "And now for my turn, I'll evolve Geodude into Graveler. Graveler 1600/1850 "What's more, I'll attatch this Earthquake TM, which raises his Attack by 600 points when he attacks! Graveler, take out that Kadabra!" And moments later, my evolved pokemon was gone, leaving him with two monsters out to my none. Atma 1050 Brock 2000 I drew a card, hoping to salvage this mess... and drew the pokemon I needed. "Your Graveler is strong, but he has one major weakness -- Water-types. And with that in mind, I play the Arctic Tsunami ritual to summon the mighty Lapras!" A virtual whirlpool appeared in the arena, and the mighty Water/Ice pokemon rose out of it. Lapras 1650/2250 "And don't forget, because Water attacks are 4* effective against Rock/Ground pokemon like Graveler, Lapras will get a +800 bonus instead of +400. Now, Surf away that Graveler!" Lapras summoned a mighty tsunami which crashed down on Graveler, and when it vanished, Lapras's opponent was gone too. Atma 1050 Brock 1150 "So, you managed to take out my Graveler. Unfortunately for you, he's not my strongest pokemon. I play the Metal Coat on Onix, raising his Attack and Defense by 300 points. What's more, Onix's ability lets me search out his evolution, the mighty Steelix, when I attatch that card." He searched through his deck for the giant steel pokemon, and then evolved Onix into him. Steelix 1700/3100 "And finally, I'll attatch the Rock Slide TM which, in addition to raising his Attack by 500 when he attacks, is Super Effective against Ice-types like your Lapras! Steelix, go!" And Steelix hurled a huge boulder, flattening Lapras. Atma 100 Brock 1150 "Look at you, down to a mere 100 Life Points. And also, Steelix's ability is that once he attacks from Attack mode, he can attack from Defense mode next turn. Face it, this duel is pretty much over." I drew a card. "This duel is over all right, but for you, not me, as there won't BE a next turn! First I'll play Monster Reborn to bring back the Charmander I lost at the beginning of the duel. And next, I'll play the Pokemon Breeder, which lets me skip a stage to evolve Charmander directly into Charizard!" Charizard 2500/1800 "Oh, no!" "Oh, yes. Your Steelix can attack from Defense mode, but he's not in defense mode yet! Right now he's still using that 1700 Attack, and I get a +400 bonus for attacking a Steel-type with a Fire attack. Charizard, Flamethrower!" And the mighty Fire-type let out his flaming breath, melting the target into a puddle as Brock's LP plummeted. Atma 100 Brock 0 "I... I lose. I underestimated you, Atma. Here, take this boulderbadge. It's rightfully yours." "Thanks, Brock." And I headed out to find the next gym.
