(K)NIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOR: Christians shining in the night clubs?
by Nathan Soto
Romans 13:11-14  "...knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.  The night is almost gone, and the day is near.  Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of lightLet us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkeness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy.  But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts."  NASB

There has been an increase in of worldliness in those who profess to be Christian.  The purpose for this article is to demonstrate from the Scriptures that the Christian life cannot be compromised with the darkness. I have encountered so called evangelicals who think is alright as a Christian to attend and dance in night clubs.  It is like the word evangelical has lost its meaning.  This has broken my heart that many are still deceived into believing this lie.

If we consider Paul's letter to the Romans, we will notice that we are to "behave properly as in the day."  There he describes the typical activities which occur especially during the night.  The unsaved are described as to be in spiritual darkness; yet the common behavior of those who delight in the flesh mostly occurs during the night time.  It is easier for a thief to hide in the shadows of the night.  And just what is the lifestyle of the drunkards, the fornicators, and wild people who just love to party?  According to the world, night life is the most adventurous.  There is much more sin during the night.  A club is certainly a place to be enticed by women who are the mostly dressed in a way as to attract attention.  It is also the place to find alcohol and many other kinds of drugs.  Unfortunately, many ladies are either intoxicated or drugged and then raped.  We are to "make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.  This is not a normal environment for those who are to "put on the armor of light."  We are
knights shining for Christ.  God created the night for resting but humans want to change the normal pattern that God has ordained.
I Peter 4:3-  "For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desires of the Gentiles; having pursued a course of
sensuality, lusts, drunkeness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries.  In all this, they  are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you; but they will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead." NASB

Christians are called to be separate and different.  If someone is surprised that you say no!to the worldly pleasures, continue to be light to the world!   Do not be ashamed of the gospel!  We are to bring them to Christ by demonsarating the truth that God is love but that He is also holy.  Jesus said
"Why do you call me Lord and not do the things that I command?" Many want a Savior but not a Lord.  We are not just to make converts but also disciples.

I John 2:15-17  "
Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not the Father, but is of the world.  The world passes away, and the lust thereof:  but he who does the will of the God abides forever."

James 4:4  "You adulterers and adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God?  Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

For those professing Christians who want to just hang around in these worldly places where sin abounds, think for a moment...:

Imagine the U.S. soldiers having a drink with the terroists.  How would that sound to many people?  Insane!  Well, this is how God feels about us.  Not that we should not befriend a non-believer but we are "not to partake in their evil deeds."  Yet, sometimes a friendship is too costly at the expense that temptation is much stronger in certain environments.  There are times when we cannot make friends with certain kinds of people.  I certainly would not recommend a Christian to be close with a gang member.

I am writing this article out of love.  Satan has deceived so many who are on the wide road that leads to destruction.  Please consider the entirety of the whole Bible.  There is no room for a compromise.  We cannot serve two lords.
