I've devoted this page to some story starts and character summaries so people may get a taste of my writing style, and have the chance to see a writer in action as she edits her stories... Yes, everything typed on this page is solely from ideas and dreams I've had since 7th grade. I am the author of it, and to be sure no one steals my book stuff, I'm not putting everything up. WARNING, THIS ONE NEEDS SOME TLC IN THE WAY OF PLOT AND PERSONALITY MAKE-OVER. IT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WHEN I FINALLY GET AROUND TO IT.
Chyra Sagato-
Phoenix Gyler was born Chyra Segato at Port Hospital to her mother, Violet Segato, on (possible sun sign: Capricorn, Aquarius, Gemini, Pisces), 3256 AD in the city of cheeky on the Qhezsulan home planet. Her father, Daren Segato, nearly didnt make it to the hospital on time. Daren had been on a mission for the intergalactic space investigation bureau. Her father was a human with Psionic powers, married to her mother, a Qhezsulan.
Genetically, the Qhezsulans have several similarities with humans. This interesting species of extraterrestrial have a second set of genetics, enabling them to shift their appearance to that of a warm-blooded lizard. The Qhezsula evolved from a species of warm-blooded flying lizard. They walk predominantly upright, sometimes using all four limbs in landing. Their arms are long, and they stand between 5 5 and 7. Qhezsulans have silky soft but extremely tough brown skin. Their front teeth are very sharp and pointed, being descendant of a carnivorous race. Qhezsulans have generally narrow rectangular faces with big wide-set forward-looking eyes and a short thick neck. Their top eye ridge protrudes a little, textured with vertical ribbing and extends back in a downward arc to become the top of the ear. Dewdrop in shape, the ears slant backward from a round hole to a point toward the back. Qhezsulans have the ability to turn their heads a full 180 degrees. They have varying size hands and feet, consisting of 4 digits, tipped with curved 1 inch claws. Another interesting feature about their hands is that two digits clasp toward the other two from the front, instead of human hands having one digit clasp toward the other four from the side. Qhezsulans also have a thin but strong tail for grasping, hanging, and balance. They live in the treetops of their home planet, as well as the ground. In recent years, though, they have begun to settle on other worlds, living peacefully (and not so peacefully) with other species of aliens.
Not wanting to forget their past, the Qhezsulan scientists manipulated their genetics to include a shape changing ability. They may assume the appearance of a medium sized four-legged flying lizard with rough mottled skin and bone spikes protruding from the leg joints, along with a second ridge above the eyes like a crest with bone spikes curved back. A highly unusual feature for this peaceful race is kept in the lizard genetics is a Psionic screech, poison breath or fire breath, depending on the sub race. This talent for manipulating genes has made them the leaders in gene therapy, inherited disease removal, test tube children, cosmetic manipulation of embryo genetics, cross breeding plants, animals and different races of aliens.
When Chyra Segato was born, she looked predominately human. The few exceptions were her weight of 4-and-a-half pounds and her bone structure, similar to her mothers and very light weight. Chyra also had a miniature pair of delicate membranous wings and a stubby little tail. The genetic coding that would normally allow for shape shifting is dormant in her genes, so it is assumed she is unable to shift. This tiny creation was the work of violets parents, geneticists who granted their daughters wish for a child with her human husband.
Age 0 to 2 : Chyras first words were a mixture of English and Qhezsulan; Mommy in English first, then Daddy in Qhezsulan. She flapped her tiny little wings and wiggled her tail as she crawled around the house, eventually using them to help her stand upright to walk.
First week of public school for Chyra: Chyra is teased by some of the other children, and bands together with a group of mixed children from various races, including human. Chyra makes some friends with a human girl named Jina; a couple of fairies, Erryn and Glen, as well as a half Khatalinian/Fairy named Sophie. (Sophie was also genetically produced with the help of a few Qhezsulan Geneticists.) She goes through an abandoned feeling phase when her father leaves for two years on assignment. During her 3rd year of school, she goes through many emotional cycles. Her mother explains to Chyra that life goes on, even if loved ones are not there in person to share it. Chyra doesnt completely understand this, and learns from this experience that being distant is ok and sharing is not always a good idea.
Childhood: Area she lives in is predominately human, elf and fairy; however there are a few other races that attend her school. Most students think she is full blood Qhezsulan, and keep their distance out of a slight fear that she may shift and hurt them if they tease her. Chyra is a slightly more than average student, gaining good marks from her classes, yet never being an over achiever. Her interests are flying, track, doodling, computer games and chess.
3 months after her 12th birthday party, both parents are killed in a horrible hover accident. Thrown from the car, Chyra was found 200 feet away by an off duty officer who happened to be going home through the area. Found without life-signs, revived with resuscitation and taken to the hospital. During her hospital stay she met a boy by the name of Jared, who makes her laugh again. Once recovered, Chyra moves in with her paternal uncle and his son, who live on the other side of town from her parents. Her cousin is friendly yet distant and attends a medical training school. Chyra goes through a transition phase during this time from little girl to young adult without her mothers guidance. She runs to her parents memorial when confused or troubled by something in her life before she turns to her uncle. Uncle is hurt by this, yet understands that Chyra misses her parents. His son, her cousin, on the other hand does not understand why she creates a scene of high drama and then runs to the memorial nearly every time she has a problem. Chyra has a problem coming to terms with the abandonment of her parents but eventually does, using her friends and volunteer work as a buffer for her problems. Volunteering with a group of psions, she helps them pick up runaways from broken homes, abused children, homeless, to match them up with a better living situation. Leading this group is Rob, an elf about 130 years old, with the appearance of a 20-year-old.
3 months after her 19th birthday celebration, there was a horrible accident trying to save some adolescents from a terrorist organization. Rob, her boyfriend and lover was shot during the crossfire. The last time she saw him was when they took him to the hospital. Before she reached the hospital, Rob was taken from his bed in critical condition. The terrorist group was suspect in his kidnapping, and Chyra was convinced he had been murdered. 2 and a half months later, her uncle has a heart attack as she returns to home with her cousin from a game of tennis. The cousin gets the house and land; Chyra gets some items and the choice to stay in the house. The house and most everything else is sold. Cousin goes on to a Medical internship at a local hospital while Chyra decides to join the Universal Government Investigation Bureau Academy. (Also known as the UIB Academy) During this new phase of her life, Chyra learns how to organize things, compartmentalize them, obsess over order in her life, and how important communication is. Also discovers individuality is a state of mind.
4 months after Chyras 25th birthday celebration: A political terrorist group seeking to end genetic manipulation of life has begun impressing psions created through genetics for hunting the others down. Chyras first mission is to infiltrate them and bring them to justice. Her undercover name is Phoenix Gyler. Something goes terribly wrong during the mission. Chyra discovers that things were not as they appeared; she is drugged and experimented on. Upon waking, she doesnt know how it happened. The scientist working on her was apprehended but not the traitor. While being held captive for interrogation, the scientist dies from poison without revealing his bosss name. Chyra is now in over her head, with terrorists seeking to kill her before she discovers who is behind it all. Chyra seeks out a planet rumored among others to exist just beyond charted space. Chyra hopes to hide from the terrorist group until she can discover who ordered her experimentation, and why the experimentation information wasnt in the debriefing files when she took the case. Along for the ride are her friends Sophie, Jina, Diane, Erryn, Kevin and Ted.
When Chyra reaches this planet, called Trevone, her first contact is with one of the royal princes, Methose. Upon exploring the galaxy, the group of young explorers and investigators discover a couple other planets inhabited by life. Among the life forms found are races of humanoid looking dogs, an ape-like barbaric race on Trevone (the original inhabitants), and a gas based life form on the gas planet of the group. Trevone belongs to a binary system, with 7 planets in total between the two suns. An interesting, colorful ring around both the suns suggest that there once were a couple more planets which have since collided or been destroyed.
While staying with the royal house, Chyra stumbles upon a mystery. A section of the castle lies decaying, unused for centuries. Through her wardrobe she finds a hallway leading to the tower in this section. Climbing the stairs she finds a room of a woman, who has long since passed from this world. While examining the room, Chyra becomes possessed, and finds a magic key on a long thin necklace. A few weeks later she explores this part again, this time with Methose, hoping he can answer a few of her questions. When they reach the room, she once again is possessed and nearly slams into a stone wall trying to run from an imaginary foe. The place on the wall she ran to appeared to have been a window once, and before she ran Chyra cried out in an ancient language at this imaginary foe. Just before she reaches the wall, Chyra passes out and crumples to the floor. Unable to wake her, Methose carries Chyra back to her own room, trying to understand what just happened. Long story short, he sleeps next to her as she clenches tightly to him in unconsciousness.

NOW WE MOVE ON TO STORY STARTS....

NOTHING MATTERS, EXCEPT FOR YOUR OWN DESTINY IN LIFE:
I stepped off the wooden dock and on to the dirt path. It would lead me to a village approximately six day's travel in to the forest ahead of me. The heavy-duty pack I carried held everything I wished to keep in my travels. There were times when I wished I could ditch the fifty-pound weight on my back to move more freely. I didn't though, for I had no idea as to what I might need in my travels.
I am a Wandering Historian, come from a world of licensed violence in which I have no place. Hidden on myself are twelve shiurkens, a pair of long knives, six throwing knives, a three-foot Semitar, and a four-foot Katana. These weapons of choice serve me well for protection. The only things worth taking with me from home were these and the long, hard years of weapons training I had.
I am elfin featured with waist length dark green hair (which I wore braided in a bun), pale gray eyes, and translucent-white skin. Dressed in black Ninja styled clothing, I stood exactly five feet tall. A dark brown cloak concealed my complexion. I looked odd to most of the worlds I visited; hence the cumbersome cloak with an oversized hood.
I walked for about fifteen minutes before rounding the first bend. Under a tree in plain sight, sat a man in a gray cloak with a black hat, obviously waiting for someone. I sized him up to see if he would cause trouble, and found that his face was hidden under the brim of his hat. I decided to simply pass him, thinking that he would ignore me. As I walked past, I froze in mid-step. The stranger had called my name. I slowly turned to look at him, wondering how this man knew me.
" Who are you, and what do you have to say? " I stared at him, tense and cautious, ready for anything.
" Does it really matter who I am? I'm here merely to give advice and warn you." He slowly rose to his feet, gesturing for me to continue walking. He joined me on the path, walking along side me.
" All right, what is it? " I looked over at him, noticing that his face was still hidden by the hat. My curiosity was brought to attention.
" There are creatures on this planet that hunt at night for food, so be careful. They are big enough to destroy a village. Look for the Fox, he is your guide to destiny. He will keep you safe." The strange man said.
I looked ahead on the path," What do you mean by that?" When he didn't reply, I turned to ask him again. He had vanished in thin air. I shrugged my shoulders, thinking weird, and continued down the trail.
Towards nightfall, I stopped at a good-looking campsite. Recalling the warning, I ate a cold dinner with out a fire. I then pulled out my sleeping bag, put my cloak over it, and crawled in. When morning came, I discovered a giant fox lying next to me, keeping me warm.
-Obviously the nights on this planet get very cold- I thought to myself. The fox did not surprise me, for it was usual to find an animal sleeping with me in the morning. I got up to fix breakfast in the chilly dawn air, and partake in my morning exercises. The movement woke the fox up, who proceeded to disappear in to the forest. When I was done, I packed up the sleeping bag and set off.
Throughout the day, I caught glimpses of my sleeping companion as he followed me. That night when I made camp, he appeared again. He lay down next to me and promptly fell asleep. Sometime during the night, I woke to loud noises off in the forest close by, and noticed that my newfound friend was gone. I couldn't bring myself to sleep until the fox came back. The next four nights and four days were similar, the former not very restful at all.
On the fifth day, I came across the village. People were rebuilding houses, and making funeral biers for mutilated bodies. A woman nearby was giving orders and answering questions in a language very much like my own native tongue. She looked to be the one in charge, so went to ask her where I might find a place to sleep.
The woman appeared completely taken aback." What did you say?" she stared at me through suspicious squinted eyes as I took my hood off," Who are you? You certainly don't come from around here. Which continent are you from, stranger? And where did you get those funny clothes? What color of hair is that? Are you ill, child? Is that why your skin is so pale?"
" My name is Chibi Ninja, and I'm looking for a place that a weary traveler might be able to stay. I'm not from this world, that is why I appear to be so strange," I calmly rebuked.
" Whatever. You can stay at a cottage to your left about seventy paces in to the woods, if it still stands, " she haughtily got back to work.
I stood around for a few minutes completely bored and unsure as to what I should do, then decided to see this cottage for myself. When I saw it through the trees, it appeared to be run down at first. When I got closer, I found it to be in surprisingly good condition. I entered through the doorway and sneezed! The amount of dust in the air was overwhelming. I put a cloth over my mouth and continued in to the living room, where I opened windows and swept with a strange looking broom. I had found it leaning against the wall. Next, I beat the furniture pads and bedding material with it.
A few hours later found me leaning against a tree, drinking water from a canteen and watching the flow of the nearby stream. I heard a faint, obscure rustling of leaves not far off, and saw my fox companion saunter in to the clearing on the other side of the stream.
" Well, hello. Have you chosen to be my protector? " I jovially commented to him, " I assume you are the fox that he spoke of, are you not?" He just looked at me for a little bit longer, giving me a fox look, Then went to lay down near the fire pit, which was near the stream. I picked up my stuff, satisfied that this was so, and went in to the cottage. I prepared for sleep, then went out to gather firewood. I came back after a short time, and made a medium sized fire. I stuck a long stick in the ground next to the fire, and put some meat on it to cook. While I watched the fire (And my food), I made plans for tomorrow to go back to the village. I had to find out how this society was run and what kind of currency was used. When dusk came, I retreated in to the cottage, followed by my shadowy counter part. I promptly readied for bed and went to sleep.
Today was a brand new day, filled with adventure and curiosity. The sky was clear and the birds were singing. I walked through the forest towards the village with a spring in my step, glad to be alive after the narrow miss in the crash.
When I reached the village, I found the woman I had spoken to yesterday at it again today. Obviously she was the one in charge around here. I went up to her and waited around till she had a break. I listened to the conversations going on around me while ignoring the stares I got, sitting on the ground.
She turned to look at me during a lull, " What are you doing back here?" surprised to see me at all.
" As I said before, I come from a different world. I don't know any of the customs, what is edible in the forests, or how to pay for things. I'm asking for you to explain to me what this place is like."
" I don't really have time for this right now, " She replied candidly for the first time, actually believing me, " Go ask the Fox, he lives off in the forest behind you in a slightly bigger cottage then your own. " She pointed in a direction, and I turned to find this 'Fox' person.
I walked for a little bit in to the woods until I reached his cottage. I went up to the door and knocked on it. I stood around...

Animal Biography

Bright Eyes the Hawk-
I am Bright Eyes, Undisputed leader of the ghost clan of the four winds. You may wonder why I perch here alone at nights, and why I cry as the sun god leaves the sky. I, Brighteyes, shall tell you of this, and much, much more in the sad tale of war, treachery, and woe that I am about to tell you.
It all started about eight years ago during the hot season, on the banks of the big river, known to you as the Columbia river. I was a young hawkling, only two mating seasons old, but I was one of the fiercest warriors known to fly the skies. I made my reputation fast being the youngest warrior of the four winds clan. They said I took after my father, who was the leader at the time. I was free and proud. No one could tell me what to do, or where to go. I went where I chose on our territory, and helped to keep others who wanted to take control out. I honored and respected my father and mother who raised and cared for me. They were very proud of me then, but what they did not know, was that I was to fail them, and that failure would cost them their lives.
It was a glorious day, perfect for hunting, and I was very successful in getting a good meal that day. I went back to my nest, which was only a mile or two from my parent's nest. I ate the big fish I had caught, and proceeded to take my daily rest. A little while later, Glider came to see me, completely out of breath, looking panicked. He was a nice hawk, two mating seasons older than me, but I just didn't like him for some reason. I didn't feel like I could trust him, but I had nothing to base this feeling on, so I kept quiet about it. He seemed to think that I took a fancy for him, and made it plain that he fancied me. " What do you want?" I asked with one eye open, wary of him. " Quick, the golden clan is attacking us on the east border!" He screeched frantically. Immediately I was awake, standing, and ready to launch at any minute," What do you mean, attacking? They haven't been in this area for three hot seasons!" " They've come back, and with vengeance. everyone is wanted at the border, your father sent me to find you, and tell you what was happening," He said, finally regaining his breath. I launched off, heading toward the east border. I got there about an hour later, and scouted for my group. I couldn't find anyone. I searched all up and down the border, looking for at least some sign that they'd been there. I finally gave up and went back to the gathering place, and found everyone there, some tending to the wounded, and others burying the dead. Among the dead was my father. No! It can't be! I thought. Aloud, I screeched in anguish, and went to my mother. She'd been injured, her left wing plastered with dock leaves and a poultice. She was stiff, and refused to say anything, save one thing. " Where were you? Why weren't you there for him? You have shamed us," She said to me. " No, never!" I screeched," I was told the fight was on the east border, and found no one there. I came back to find out what had happened. I was told that father wanted me to fight on the east border." " Who told you such lies? My other half is gone, all because this traitor is telling lies in my clan!" She screeched at the top of her voice. I knew she was grief stricken, so said nothing. She may be my mother, but I know that my mother had always loved him best, no matter what anyone said. "How do I know that you're not just making an excuse?" She accused me hoarsely through narrowed eyes. " I care, that's how," I replied quietly with that staring gaze that I had inherited from my sire. She looked away and nodded, launching herself towards the nest that she had shared with my father for the greater part of her life. I watched her disappear in to the forest, then left to grieve privately in my nest. Two weeks went by uneventfully, and I finally got over my father's death. After all, life does go on. So this morning found me trying unsuccessfully trying to catch an early meal. I hadn't been able to sleep very well last night, plagued by confused nightmares in which I found my mother dead, with the whole clan accusing me of doing it. What was weird about the whole thing was that when I went to look at her, I saw myself staring back out of dead eyes that were filmed over. " How's the luck going with the fish?" A familiar voice screeched to the wind. I circled round to find that striker had come back from the spy mission. " Not good, not good at all," I replied to my dearest friend in all the skies," How come you came back so early?" I landed in a tree, followed by him. " I missed my friends and my home," He called back in reply," I'm afraid that you won't like the reason why I had to come find you today. Especially on the day I come home." " Why did you search me out?" I asked with dread," What's wrong?" " I've only got bad news. Your mother is dead. Glider found her at sunrise, in your father's favorite fishing spot. She just gave up. The reason I came back this early is because the BlackHawk clan will be here in five sunrises to attack us." he shrieked," I got a big shock when I found out that the great chief had died. Now the former chief's wife is dead, and you have been asked to lead the clan. I was told to bring you back for the ceremony." " No! Not mother too!" I cried to the wind," This is so sudden! What am I to do? I know they will ask me to choose a mate during the ceremony. Who will I choose?" Striker's reply was quiet, but insistant," Me. You will choose me." I was stunned and confused. I was all just happening too fast," What do you mean, you?" " I care a great deal about you, Bright Eyes," He said. It seemed like he was trying to read what was in my soul, the way he was staring in to my eyes. I looked at the ground for something to do. I was feeling so numb right now, that I think a hunter could have pointed at me right then with one of their noisy sticks, and I would still be perched up here, alive, trying to figure out what happened." I care about you, too. I'm just so confused. I need another hawk to bring me back to the here-and-now. who better than the love of my life?" " Lets go," He screeched, and took off in the direction of home.
* * *
It had been three days since the ceremony, and I was now the chief. We were getting ready for war with the BlackHawk clan. " Where's Glider?" I asked my third in comand, Fisher. " I don't know, Bright Eyes, he hasn't reported in since the last sundown," He replied, flustered. " Find him!" I shreiked," He's supposed to lead his group in from the west of our enemies." I turned and flew off, going to see that everything else was in order. By the time I got back, Fisher had an answer for me. " Well, where is he?" I asked, slightly irritated as I fluttered to a halt on the branch next to him. Fisher looked really scared. " The last time Glider was spotted, he was headed toward enemy territory," was his reply. " Great Spirits!" I shrieked, pausing for a moment," Have War Shrike take his position, and let everyone know that Glider has betrayed us." With a rush of wings beating against the wind, he left to send the message. I sat there for a few minutes, thinking over everything that Glider had done up until he left. He was the one who had told me that the fight was on the east border. He was the one who had found my mother. I desperatly tried to stay calm, and keep from going after him for vengence. What good would it do to throw myself at the enemy, when I could do more damage alive? I herad the rush of wings and felt the branch move as some hawk landed on the same branch as me. I turned my head to see Striker perched next to me. " I heard about Glider," He said, watching me carefully. " Have you heard the full extent of his treachery?" I asked, pausing breifly," He sent me to the east border, and let father die. He found mother, and probably killled her, too. He's betrayed the whole clan. The enemy knows our plan of attack, our borders, which ones aren't guarded very well, everything. We're dead." He just stared at me," Not if we can help it. I know you too well. You're going to die fighting the enemy."

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING RETRO-
ECLIPSE:
THE UNTOLD TRUTH OF NEVER LAND.
Chapter 1:
The Naming
Tinkerbell was in a hurry. Yesterday she had watched a mother put her newborn child in the forest around the little family cottage. They had been attacked by bandits, and the entire family had been murdered, except for the infant. Tink didn't know if she could take the infant home to Never, Never Land or not. The reason being that the babe was a girl. As long as tink could remember, she had only brought boys home. She had also never brought home a newborn infant before either. But she didn't want the baby to die, either. It would die in a few days of hunger and thirst. She still hesitated a few minutes, battling with indecision, before she sprinkled fairy dust on the sleeping babe and flew home. "yes, I know it's a girl," Tink said to one of the new boys that had thought the girl shouldn't be there, " but she was going to die, just like you might have if I hadn't saved you. Would you like it if I hadn't resqued you because you were a boy? I didn't think so. What should we name her?" Several boys offered names, but they didn't seem to fit. " I know, let's ask the Indjuns to name her," David suggested. Everyone seemed to agree with that, so it was settled. They would go ask the Indjuns in the morning for a name. The next morning, they were all awakened by a loud, continous cry. " What is that?" Billy asked David as they rushed toward the sound. " It's the baby," Tink said, flying past him, " I think she's hungry." They all found Tink trying to quiet the baby girl who was attempting to get out of her blankets. One of the boys stepped foward to help Tink with the the little one, while the rest went to get breakfast. They came back with some apple sauce for the baby. After breakfast (and Tink managing to get the boys to change the little girl's diaper) they left for the injuns' camp. " Do you think they'll try to ambush us again?" David asked Billy. " I hope they don't. Who knows how long it'll take to make the baby be quiet," He replied, rolling his eyes skyward. The trail was dense, but they knew the way very well, for they had been playing games with the injuns for what seemed like forever. Chapter 2: The Child As long as she could remember she had lived in Never, Never Land. She might as well have been born here, because her mother had abandonned her when she was only a few hours old, and tink had brought her here, seeing that she was going to die. She was the only girl in the lost boys, and was very different from anyone here. she was even looked different than the Pirate's women and children. She had long, curly, Strawberry-blonde hair and swirling rainbow eyes. She also had sharply pointed ears. Another thing different about her was that she could change her shape. She was pretty, prettier than the pirate's best women. Her best friend, Star, was about the same age as her, and had been found a few days later than her. He had been abandoned because he was a bastard, and the mother didn't know how she was going to explain him to her family. " Hey, Eclipse, come on, we're going to play with the injuns," Star called, impatiantly waiting for her. " I'm coming," She replied.

(glares at glittering, dark cave walls) -Crystal, I need a puppet, show them to me.- A LITTLE GIRL?! Ah, well, stranger things have been known to happen.

CHAPTER ONE
Polution. Oh, how I dispise the sight and smell of it. It can kill you from prolonged exposure, destroys the environment, mutates animals and reptiles, and there is a bit too much on this planet for my liking. Gone are the days of environmentalists and endangered species. They are just a part of the history we hear the elders speak of, along with the stories of genetic mutation experiments done on humans and animals alike. Oh, sure, they used to consider the earth just a little bit at least, but times change, along with politics and politicians. As my grandfather says, " Greed has won the world leaders over." We have fourty-some-odd news stations, and at least fifty thousand different newspapers on the market. They always have at least one story on some war or bombing by some radical group. There is so much more crime now, and I am afraid to walk the streets alone. My grandmother says that life was once safe for us, but how that could be so, I don't understand. When I tell my grandparents this, they just smile and laugh, and say that I am wise beyond my years. Then they give me a hug, and grandmother brings out some cookies and a book, (Which is, my grandfather tells me, a rare sight in this age of touch-screen computers.) reading a story from it full of fascinating tales of adventure. Sometimes they even let me read them myself. I learn a great deal more from the elders than I do in school. In school, they teach you to shut up, and not talk to others. They give us games to learn from, instead of the real programs that my father let me have. I put up with it though. My elders taught me that it isn't wise to tell any adults about what I learn from them, so I keep up the image of an average six year old city girl, living with her father and mentally ill mother. (Who are both gone more often then not. Mother in an institute, and father at work on entertainment boxes. The entertainment boxes are a new device that consist of a T.V., V.C.R., stereo, and computer complete with internet access.) I stay with the elders 'till sunset along with some of my friends, outside playing, or on a computer, keeping up my hacking skills, which is difficult in a period of time where they have viruses and other security measures. I have found that being a child is an advantage to hacking, because imagination helps greatly with codes and passwords, and finding back doors. Also, a child knows enough not to crash a system or stay too long, giving them time to trace the link. Regardless of what parents think, children smart enough to hack are also aware of right from wrong. They know that if they get caught they will never see the end of the punishments, put-downs, and repremands. They also know a better loyalty to friends, so they won't talk, no matter what problems they get in to. (A snitch gets about the same treatment as someone who gets caught, so it's like doubling the punishment.) They don't know how stupid it is to let children learn from a computer. I am also different in another way that even the elders don't know. I talk to ghosts and play with energy when I am alone, which isn't too often. Also, if I can get away from home without being seen, I will go to the forest edge by our city,(Which is slowly being pushed back by developers.) and play with the animals. You may think me crazy, like some people do, but when I say that I talk to ghosts, I am very serious. " Hey, guys, wait up!" I yelled after my friends as they headed in to the cave without me. " Hurry up then!" Micheal yelled back, motioning for me to go faster from the cave entrance. I picked up the pace, gaining almost inhuman speed across the rough rocks. No one notices my oddities, but sometimes, I wish they would. They were showing me a new cave they had just found, about a mile from the forest edge, near our city, Lake Stillpond. It was lunch time, and we were supposed to be going home to eat lunch, but we weren't that hungry. At first, I could barely see the entrance, which was covered with bushes and plants hanging on the cliff above the cave. " Are you sure we weren't followed?" Angela asked, looking back the way we had come. " I'm very sure," I replied, looking at them with a knowledge that they would never gain. We headed in to the cave, parting the bushes and turning on our flashlights. It was huge, the entrance being about seven feet above my 3'2" height, and opening up to about thirteen feet wide, with the roof eleven feet above my head. I could hear water trickling with a bell like tone somewhere in the cave. I looked around at the formations as I walked beside my friends, each of us exclaiming at the different forms and strange sights. We played with the echoes, shouting funny sounds, and listening to them when they returned. I ran ahead of my friends, curious as to where the trickling noise came from. I had gone quite a ways in to the cave before I found the pools. they glowed with a very unnatural light, and were almost completely still. The waterfall that was near the back was also lit up with the earie glow. -WOW- I broadcasted in mind-speech with awe. -Welcome, Fey. How are you?- A voice said, sounding suspiciously like the bell toned waterfall. The pools rippled with the energy of the voice. I was taken aback only for a moment before replying. -I'm fine. Who are you, may I ask?- I replied, blinking. -My name is not important. I am simply apart of this cave. I have an important favor to ask of you, but now is not the time. You shall learn what it is when I know that you are up to the challenge.- " Fey, where are you? We have to get back soon before we're missed and the soldiers come looking for us," asked Angela with a worried voice. She was always worrying about something. " Over here," I replied, disapointed that I had to go before they found this spot. - Can I show this place to my friends?- I asked. - Not yet, maybe later.- Was the reply. I left the cavern, and went to where they were waiting in the first opening. We quickly made our way back to school, and went to class. After we got out we headed to the Elder's meeting. This time it was over at Micheal's house. We wanted to tell them about the new cave we had found, at least, everyone else did. I wanted to go back, but I didn't have an excuse good enough to leave.

AND FOR THE NEWEST CHARACTER, KAYLA.....

I hope you realize youre a terrible thief, he quietly commented, grabbing the hand on his purse firmly in his right hand. Kayla looked up from the dark blue purse she had her hand on. Oh, no! She denied, I was simply admiring the quality of your purse, she feigned innocence with practiced ease, I need a new one, and just came to town. Could you tell me the name of a good tanner? The man smiled, his brown eyes lighting up with suppressed laughter. He raised her hand off his purse before releasing it, you should ask before reaching out, he settled his chin on his right hand. Now, why would I give a suspicious person like yourself the name of a good person? She tilted her head a bit...
