For years, I've had Asunta convinced that 'vintage' paint adds value to a home.  Last Saturday, she had lunch with a realtor friend of ours.  Last Sunday, I rolled outta bed and stumbled over two gallons of Sears Best Latex.

"G'morning Honey.  What's for breakfast?  (sniff sniff)  Is that bacon?"
"
Jessica's room."
"........Did you happen to get a second roller when you bought the paint?"
"
Nope."

One small room...2 cans of paint.....Jim.....This should only take a week or so....

I think it was Dale Earnhardt who started the tradition of Tom Sawyerin' his car for the Winston.  Since then, he's gotten many of the teams to whitewash their cars in "Special Paint Schemes" for this race.  This year's display at the 'Louvre' Motor Speedway will include:

Darrell Waltrip driving a mirror.  Chrome paint and a race under lights.....Sounds like a CHiPs episode waitin' to happen.

Terry Labonte in a Fruit Loops/CherryBerry Swirls car.......Yeah right.  And John Wayne wore a dress.

Dale Earnhardt in a Peter Max sssssscheme.....I'm quite sure Peter Max HAS worn a dress.

Lori - I think Rusty's still White and Blue for this race.  And after some white knuckle racing for a few laps, he's gonna be blue in the garage.  He leads all drivers in DNF's for this race.  He'll lead once, then crash in the second leg.  Finishes 15th.

Hey Tony the Tiger - Check out Lepage's Clemson Car.

Doc - Ward Burton's win at Darlington knocked Geoffrey outta this race.  He'll have to earn his way winning the first of the three races, OR by stayin' on the lead lap of the first race and winning the second........Bodine finishes 12th in the Open...9th in the Sprint...And doesn't make the show.....Doc, Do YOU get all this?  Explain it to me one day.

Jeff & Doc - Stewart starts sixth in his same old suit.  He had to win the Open last year to get into the Winston, and then he finished second.  That was last year.....This year, there's an extra Earnhardt out there.  And he's already stolen one race from ya.  Tony takes 10th.

And Jeff - I know that in your heart, Steve Park is your new #1 guy.  But Dude, he's #1 to all of us.  Pennzoil car was lookin' slow in the late practice.  13th in the Open.  4th in the Sprint. Misses the Winston.

Stacy - Gordon's "End of the Rainbow" car is pretty lame.  Looks like they simply rearranged the decals.  A 7th for lack of effort.

Paul - Mark Martin looked smart startin' that MaxLife paint job a few weeks ago.....But that was in the sssspring.   SSSSSummer meansss brighter colorssss Marky.  Go ssssee if Earnhardt'ssss sssstill got Peter'sss card.  Martin finishes 4th in his old coat.

Mollie - Mr. Mast was 2nd fastest in this afternoon's practice.  But AJ's too busy in Indy to help Rick get past the first race.  Green paint and he ain't finishin' higher than 23rd.

Ted - Rumor had it the 24 car WAS gonna have a Pokeman theme to it.  Ya know, those rearranged decals don't look too bad now.  Still ends up 7th.

Dave - Sterling's caught the bouquet 3 times in the Winston.  And he has the highest average finish for all drivers.  But tonight he's gone country.  A bad Brooks & Dunn paint job slows him down in the Open.  He cries in his beer over finishing 9th and misses the big race.

Kim - Mark was the "Man in Black" and got handed this race a couple of years ago when Gordon's
F-14 ran outta fuel.  And if he'd have just gone ahead and finished paintin' this car black he might've had a chance at yet another fluke win.

Ward wears white and works his way to 8th.

Michael Waltrip has a great idea and puts a light bulb on his Philips sponsored Chevy.  Still the dark horse.  Finishes 12th.

Humpy Wheeler, the fat cat who owns Charlotte Motor Lowes Home Improvement Speedway Warehouse, has guessed 8 of the last 14 winners in this race.  This year he's pickin' Dale Jr. in his plain old red #8.  I say the winner will be splattered with new paint.

Hell, I got paint all over me and finished her room in only six days.
