Tennis and Golf and Golf Lesson

Tennis

Tennis is my most favourite sport. I am a member of Tennis Canada for over 20 years, and I have worked as a volunteer during the Canadian Tennis Open at The National Tennis Centre (Tennis Canada). I have been playing tennis with a bunch of great guys for the last 20 years. The main venue was the Centre Court (in the summer months) or the "bubble" courts (in the winter months) at Tennis Canada, Toronto. The facility is located inside York University campus at Keele and Steeles West, Toronto. The group switched the venue to L'Amoreaux Tennis Centre in 2005, and play indoor year-round ever since.

The regular year-round tennis members are:
Nelson Wong (President)
John Lee (Treasurer)
Members: Rodney Chan, Peter Lee, Tony Ng, Ray Sit, Tony Tam, Tony Tang, Kenneth Wong, Sally Yam, Edmond Wong, Shermon Siu, Richard Lo, Rick Wong, Raymond Fan, Joe Wong and Alan.

The group plays religiously every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Those who play tennis regularly and would like to join this 'fun-filled' group, please contact Nelson Wong at [email protected]. I would generously rank the group to be 'intermediate' level (club level B and C). It is also important that you have an email address to facilitate communication, because weekly schedule is notified and confirmed via Evite on internet.

To foster our friendship off the court, we celebrate each other's birthday for Dim Sum or buffet lunch after our games.

The group played a fund-raising tournament against the York University Women tennis team managed by Head Coach Eric Bojbsen. The York University Women tennis team has won the championship of 2001 inter-university tennis tournament. Needless to say, this opponent gave us a lot of challenge. Out of 16 matches, we managed to win one.

The corporate sponsor of the tournament was Honey Garlic Buffet Restaurant. Thanks to Ray Sit, a long-time member of our group, and he was very supportive and provided us with the sponsorship. In addition to the cash donation from Honey Garlic, there were also 8 "dinner for 2" coupons offered to the York U tennis players.

Golf

Golf is another sport that I enjoy playing. I have a good friend Rodney Chan who has given me instruction and to help me improve my game. Playing with him and Tony as a team, we won the Golf Tournament organized by Overseas Chinese Women Association on September 25th, 2004. Here's a picture of me with Rodney Chan after winning the Tournament trophies.
